Heat Exchanger Split Loop?

I was wondering what a split loop meant. I am trying to do some research before purchasing a heat exchanger and pump upgrade. As of now I think I am going to get the LET heat exchanger with a Johnson CM30 pump. Should I get a CM90?

Thanks Guys!

Nah, go 30. I was at the Famoso event and watched Benzgals Renntech CM30 machine blow an 11.3. She had the IC separated from the engine coolant and the EVOsport HE which is the smaller of most that are out there.

Chiromikey is using twin 30 pumps (one in trunk and one up front) and he ran an 11.3 as well.

Starting to wonder if my 90 pump really is moving too fast to release and absorb that heat.

Go 30 first for sure.

Split system means you separate the cooling of the SC from the cooling of the motor (standard setup). The trade off is losing the huge reservoir (that you shared) vs removing a heat source to your SC setup. Our engine bays are very tight and finding a spot for a large enough reservoir to accomodate a CM90 isn't easy.

It also all depends on what your objectives are. If you want to go 1/4mile down the strip and then rest to get sick numbers, then you want to set the system up differently than if you want to be able to do multiple blasts. Anyhow, getting the heat OUT of the intake is hardest for me.

Jackpro....is there a correlation between the size of the crank pulley and the pump used? generate less heat may be easier to deal with, too.

I dunno if a modded car is ever finished but her car is in 100% running order and only made two passes (I think, maybe one) all day. At the time, it was the fastest E55 run of the day, PERIOD. It is a beast and nice thing is that Renntech left lots on the table with respect to mods. Almost all of her added power is from internal mods, making her other mods more efficient. The car is still running shorty headers.....

Props to Mikey for driving so consistently.

I'll be running this at the 1/4 mile with rest between the runs. What should I do?
