Options Importance

Truly, how important are main options like Keyless, Parktronic, Pano, Elec Trunk Closer as far as resale, specifically on 55's? Thanks......

Its very subjective, but its safe to assume that in a market like the current one, options will help to distinguish your car from the hundreds of available E55's.

The more options the better.

I am not a keyless go or pano roof fan and the nav is crap so here is my personal "essential list":

Distronic (somewhat rare), Dynamic Seats, Parktronic, Auto Trunk Closer, TPMS, Xenons

My car has all of these and a couple more and given the nature of the E55, I wouldn't give a single one of them up!

Not very if you ask me. I don't have the keyless go or the pano and don't care one bit. My vette has the Keyless thing and it is nice but I would never spend money on it again. I think it's better to not have those expensive options. If you need to sell, it gives you a chance to sell at a lower price. Most people buying these cars don't have a clue about those extra options anyways. Only the enthusiasts on this forum.

Very important.....very

I will not buy a car that has no keyless go.... my favorite color is flint grey ....a CL65 flint grey popped up and it had no keyless go.... they only built about 6 of those cars.... well I should of taken it now I know the production #'s.....but I felt why do I want a car that has less an option a prius has???

Everybody wants all the bells and whistles... it does make a difference to me and to a lot of people.....

There are about 50 E55'S for sale now....I would not get one without keyless and the comfort package...pano is not that big of deal.... but it is nice

I never thought Keyless Go would be a big deal, until I had it. I never take the key out of my pocket ever and I can get in the car and start it and get on my way fast and easy. The biggest perk to Keyless Go is locking and unlocking the car. No need to go in my pocket and click the key; just walk up to the door and pull the handle and it lets you in. Fabulous lol.

As far as other options go, I would honestly say that I use the Dynamic Seats and heated/vented seats on a daily basis.

"Must haves" for me are keyless go, nav, satellite radio, heated seats, and parktronic. The more options, the better IMHO. Mine has the pano roof, but I could live without it. With the pano you cannot tilt the roof up on a warm day without rolling back the sun shade. Kinda defeats the purpose. It's great to have the whole thing open in nice weather though.

I absolutely hate the fact that the actual shade part (inside underneath) on pano roof cars, has that cheap feeling textile material, vs. the alcantara......

i would not get a car without the pano, keyless go and navi. True the navi isnt the greatest but the integrated look as opposed to an external unit is more than enough to make me require it. The keyless go is amazing once you have it. Key never leaves pocket. And as far as the pano, I love that option. Looks stunning on a light colored car. Agree 100% with jpohl that the shade is cheaper and wish it was alcentra too but it still looks good. specially on the outside.

Real Cars
My 55 and 65 both have my essential options.

Keyless Go
Parktronic
Pano Roof
NAV
Heated/Ventilated Seats

Those are essential for me. The GL does not have keyless go (dealer made us a great deal on this one and they didn't have any white diesels w/keyless) and it's such a PITA after you are used to having keyless go. Everytime I have to carry groceries, or my briefcase it's nice to just pull on the handle with my key in my pocket.

The one option I've never understood people going ga-ga over is Distronic. I had it on my '04 SL600 (and similar system on a previous '04 QX56) and it was so incredibly stupid. I guess if you use cruise control every day it could have SOME utility but for the most part I found it a useless waste of money (it's a VERY expensive option).

Keyless go ROCKS.

You don't ding up the steering column putting in a key, you don't wear out the metal key, you don't dig around in your pocket when you are carrying stuff.

It's like your car says "Hi there - I'm ready!" and recognizes you. If it could wag it's tail I could get rid of the dogs!

I think the heated / ventilated seats are great - esp in extreme temperatures. Dynamic was discontinued when I got mine (darn).

I'd like the trunk / hatch closer - don't have it.

Don't need park / distronic. Too nannyish for me. Besides - it doesn't help when parallel parking and everyone curbing their wheels - I'd contend that happens more them hitting bumpers.

NAV sucks, but integration is nice.

Wish I had built in phone module.

Satellite radio is great, too - you realize how you hate regular radio....
