Looks nice and the price seems okay. I wonder if the $150 is on top of the $899 or if the wheel will actually cost you $749 after you give them your wheel. Wouldn't it be better if you just sold your wheel yourself? I think a stock wheel is worth more than $150 right?!?

Looks okay but I am still a fan of the MP Design wheel and CLK63 BS wheel and happy to spend the extra money on them. The real plus about this wheel though is that if you want a DTM style wheel, it is the only plug and play option for the E55 that I know of. The BS wheel requires mods and a new airbag.

If it just uses the simple button shifters, I say avoid it.

Is it posible to put the paddles form the E63 to this wheel??

Yes, it can be modded to take the paddles just like the stock wheel as it uses the stock wheel as a core. The fitment of the paddles and mods necessary to support their electronic differences are quite an involved project.

If it supported the heated steering wheel option I'd consider it as my stock wheel is pretty boring, but does have heating ... From my research, no one makes an aftermarket wheel that support heating...

Finny...now thats whats up! Did you have to cut out the holes in back of the wheel to fit the shifters? I'm assuming it came without holes b/c there are no +/- symbols on front.

Finny's is the real 63BS steering wheel. It already comes with paddle shifters.

wheel looks sweet. my gti had a flat bottom steering wheel and i miss it ALOT. i dont know if i would spend that much money on it thou....

Wow that looks pretty sick. Wonder if theyre better quality than the Victor steering wheels I've seen.

Quite involving yes, but highly doable. I did mine in just under 3 hours from start to final drive. Just make sure to grind slowly; you can always take more off if you need too, but you can't put it back on if you grind off too much!

Is the BS wheel noticably smaller than the stock wheel? Is the flat bottom intended to have a functional benefit or is it just a sport asthetic?

Those of you who got the wheel from that same seller, can you post pics please? Is the wheel much thicker?

I had a Brabus steering wheel in my father's W211 E320 and it was remarkable. I want one for mine, but the price is outrageous! I got his for like $500 or so.

Has anyone tried the AMG steering wheel that's listed on the AMG website as option code #281 "AMG Performance Steering wheel with smaller diameter?"

I like the idea of a OEM part, instead of something off ebay that might not jive electronically with the car or possibly void some warranty.

Don't forget to add the time in for the electronic conversion for the '05 and earlier cars. Now if you pulled an entire conversion off in 3 hours I'm very impressed!

Well with that post in the DIY sticky the whole procedure was pretty much laid out. I would probably say the longest part of the whole ordeal was grinding down the mound inside the new paddle with my Dremel. I am very glad I did it though; the feel of the paddles is infinitely better than those goofy shift buttons!

Oh and it probably helped that I was a circuit card repair tech in the military, so fitting the board in the new paddle was a cake walk!

In a CLK63 BS or any of our street cars....nothing aside from looking "cool" unless you have REALLY long legs.

In the cockpit of a race car like my Formula Mazda where there is NO room, it buys you clearance when you are going in a straight line. It basically saves you bruising on your upper thighs when you are getting bounced around hard on the high-speed straights as that extra inch of room is a BIG deal.
