Possibly purchasing a E55 quick question
ok so i drove a friends '03 E55 today that's for sale and i must say i fell in love with it right away, awsome sound, superb acceleration and incredible comfort. Just the perfect car for me at this time, but i noticed one thing which kinda bugged me, after taking the car on the highway i stepped on it all the way, and the pull was pretty smooth but when i looked at the speedo it was almost at 140, which was quite shocking to me (how quickly it got up there), i then stepped on it one more time before getting off the highway, when i came to a stop sign i puchned the car and it barely moved1 felt like the charger was not engaging, it took about a minute or two or regular driving before i stepped on the car again and it moved like it was suppose to. I took the car after that to my friends shop where he had it scanned and the only fault that came up was Intake Temp. Sensor, could that senson be throwing the ECU off, to make it think its running to hot and thus shutting down the charger?, or should i be worried that there is and issue with the supercharger alone? I really really love this car, and im on the brink of purchasing it but just want to make sure this does not turn into a big $$$ repair.

You've just experienced the most common symptom of the famous stock IC pump's intermittent failure. The stock Bosch IC pump does not just stop working, it gradually gets worse until it completely dies. When the pump starts failing, the intake air temperatures start rising, which causes the computer to rob you of power usually by pulling timing or preventing the supercharger from engaging. The good news is that it is a very easy fix. Most people on here have been using the Johnson Marine pump CM30 as a replacement pump with good results. LET (a decent sponsor on this board) sells the pump for around $175.
