Like you would not have to slam on the brakes anyways? And it does suck...lol.

Yes the car will keep the set distance even if a car cuts you off or stops all of a sudden.....Distronic works Great!

LOL that sounds terrible.

If I'm cruising along and some ******** fly's in front of me and keeps on going, why do I need to slow down? If I slow down, everyone behind me has to slow down also... That guy who cut me off is still going 110mph, he's well out of my reach by now.

then u just set the distance to the car in front u at the shortest length... then it'll be very difficult for anyone to jump into ur lane...

I know that english is just a second language and not my main language but as far as I know chauvinistic means: Militant devotion to and glorification of one's country; fanatical patriotism --- Prejudiced belief in the superiority of one's own gender, group, or kind

so what has that to do with that comment?

My comment had nothing to do with that - it was just referring to whatever grows out of the carpets and from underneath the woodpanels in all those american owned cars that I work on.

distronic is a bit more sophisticated then that...it can actually see when cars go faster then you go - even if it is cutting you off and weaves through your lane...distronic also doesn't SLAM the brakes - if brakes have to be slammed distronic will mute the audio and the IC will beep 3 times to make you aware of the fact that it is your turn to drive again.

san francisco - los angeles...400 miles...I travel that stretch a lot of times and I always have distronic engaged (possibly while watching TV/DVD)

true - but mercedes still engineers to last (I still own a 1993 C250D with 700.000km that is still on it's first engine and that never had the valve cover off yet) - so I presume (maybe somewhat naive) that the mercedes configuration will last longest...and if that means that I have to swap a 100USD waterpump every 90k miles, then that is fine with me.

Great job! Curious, where did you get the lining for the ashtray?

I was going to cut one out of black felt, but this looks nice!

Wow that must have taken you a long time that sure is a lot of work. My husband and I once tried getting the mirror off my CL65AMG and it was a disaster. Since I am chaldean I have a roseary hanging in each and every one of my cars and we got that stuck in the mirror when we were trying to take it apart. We ended up just taking it to Mercedes to have my mirror fixed. It was amazing it only took Mercedes about thirty minutes to get it fixed. Once again great job on your car!!!

I paid too much for these rims...at least, too much for my liking...these were take-off's and I got them from a company who takes a lot off these kind of parts off the hands of AMG (in affalterbach).
These rims are forged which makes them a lot more expensive then what I planned on paying for rims...so a lot more expensive then the styling VII's that are on my friends E500 (see attached pictures) or the styling VI's on my dutch E220CDI (also see picture)...these are all 19s btw.

Great work. That car was so similarly configured to mine, I think Parktronic was the only difference.

You should put Texas on your travel itinerary, I could go for some extra options. I'm working on adding a few myself, but there is so much to research when starting from scratch.
