dirt in throttle body
I took apart my VRP CF airbox today to stick my stock filters until I could clean the foam ones they came with.
The TB was caked with dirt inside and even on the flap. Im assuming this is not normal?? Anyone else with the VRP box have this problem? Im I doing significant damage to my engine by letting that much dirt in? The box is sealed tight, and the only thing I can think of is the connection between the box and TB. But given the rigid design of the box, once its on, there's no wiggle room with it. Maybe I can get some duct tape

Use heat reflecting asbestos tape, duct tape won't take the temps.

+1 with shardul and bobgodd. Run the stock filters for awhile and check it again. Hope it works out

assuming you have 80mm tb and stock y-pipe, pick up mb part #112-159-00-80 (it's a $3 gasket). it doesn't fit the 80mm assembly properly so you'll have to stretch it over your tb and then the y pipe will will friction seal around it perfectly.

I never looked inside the TB to see if any dirt was in there...maybe I should do take a peek...![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Uh oh....I guess I'll have to find a lil something something extra to do to keep up now!

thanks for the response. I hope its just the filters that arent up to par. If its the box itself, there's nothing I can do about it. I'll leave the stock filters for a few months and see what happens. I dont notice any difference anyway between the stock and foam.
