Does this happen to M, Porsche etc guys too?
+1...I think some tuners (not trying to single anyone out) think that a typical MB customer will not actually test it out on a dyno or track.Fortunately, there are enough MB enthusiast types that are going to challenge the tuner to produce tangible results. I HATE seat of the pants assessments...

WHoa...Jim, just read all these pages. Unbelivable bro! man I feel so bad for all this fuss. I seriously hope you are made whole in this whole ordeal. I just decided not to mood anymore. We are in a recession and decided not to dump more mula on the car, specially if I will get screwed.

Damn Jim I can't believe this crap! We need a little AMG day at RMR to help you forget this BS, I tried to fend off as many as I could last year with my 13.60's but fell victim to some 12 second ricer's. I needed big brother there to give them a taste of the E55:-) Hope to see you out this year!

Sorry to hear about your troubles Jim. I hope you get it cleared up and get your money back. It's a shame to see this happen to a stand up guy.

Obviously MHP is not reputable and has NO CLUE how to tune. Sounds like the scam artist Stephens who used to be on this board in 2003. Remember that loser? Sorry for all the troubles.

Stick a fork in it for sure...MHP is definitely a well done piece of crusty carbon.

Pretty much yah. These dudes have to learn that The Thunderdome is not a place for games, and that if you mess with one of us, you mess with all of us.

Jim,
I am so sorry my friend! I saw the writing on the wall in the beginning! I hope your engine is ok! I have tried to warn people about the importance of a good tune. Our engines are far to expensive to experiment with. The only tunes I trust are Renntech and Kleeman!!!!!
Please don't make me get on a plane to Utah buddy. I hope you get your money back.

Hey Jim,
I'm glad you've gotten past this mess, Not only did it cost you a lot of time but also a lot of money, I'm really sorry for what happened. I can now say I was the one to get Tim involved or shall I say made him aware of what was being said and done about ECU/TCU tunes for MB C63's through forum emails... At that time I was just looking into the best tunes available for $ and was asking around at which point I was put into contact with Tim. It was at that time I was almost sold by Andy but I kept the questioning up on how he was getting to the TCU through ECU??? Long story short, all of these guys know each other Farley well, also people in the business of tunes know who the best are. There is No doubt in my mind that Tim is one of the best (if Not the Best) this is from what I've heard and been advised by friends/ professionals. I've did try telling people on this forum what a stand up guy Tim is based on his credentials. For Tim to just come out and out of No where shoot down MHP signal handlely... I mean wow! I didn't know that this was going to happen, I'm guessing something must have been brewing in the background, I really didn't know, as I did Not know Tim personally (Now I do) : > ))

Well this has been a huge learning curve for all of us including me, its my intention now to get an ECU tune but also a TCU tune while I watch! We all know that the car is a beast when tuned correctly, but I'm still driving a puppy : >(( Good luck to All!!! and safest driving...

on a lighter note, I've had Andy tune my numerous private jets and they fly very fast now and land even faster.

Jim,

I just read this thread, and I would like to say thanks for coming forward.

You've been a pioneer with our cars, and you were the last one to deserve this. I hope you get complete restitution.

The video clearly shows some slushy shift points and lack of one altogether from the MHP tcu tune. Are you still satisfied with the ECU? You mentioned in your post you liked the ECU tune, perhaps keep it and Andy can refund the TCU portion and perhaps refund 1500 that you shelled out for the stock ECU.

Im certain you will find a solution.

I dont think he has the assets to do the right thing even if he wanted to.

Instead of being secure and having funds set aside for disasters he is out buying CLS55's and M5.

His photos of his parts are taken from his apartment floor from what it looks like. All good tuners use their dirty carpet as a back drop to showcase up coming product lines.

Fly by night companies dont plan for a rainy day. They rip people off and run into the sunset.

So true. I'm on the fence about starting the engine mods on my TT, and while there are some very reputable companies (as well as some I wouldn't touch), i've been thinking lately of going with RUF. A LOT more money, less HP, but... it's RUF.

Just wanted to wrap up this story so I can move on with my life.

We are basically at an impass and I just wanna get this over with.

Andy offered me a refund...BUT wants the ECU and TCU back (to be reflashed) so he can be sure the software is removed and honestly after all that I have been through, I just don't want to go any further.

Amazing the people that are reading this board. After much input (even had a guy from Germany contact me) everyone had a similiar concern.

I honestly don't think Andy would do this, but if his tuning guy (who works with Chrysler so he's gotta have some knowledge) reallly wanted to be evil, he could sneak in a torque limiter on my ECU and TCU when he flashes me back and it would be extremely costly and difficult to find and correct. Ask anyone who has had the sneaky torque limiter flash on their car and they will tell you it's literally hell on Earth.

I wish Andy all the best but I just wanna move forward.

That sounds like the run around to me. Tell him to send you the refund and that afterwards you will send him the proof that you reflashed your car at a reputable tuner. The he can't claim you're running around town with "his tune" for free. I mean why on earth would anyone in their right mind send their ecu to him? Even if a lock wasn't put on it you wouldn't see it for months.

That's ludicrous.

At this point, after this long, and after this many hassles, you're owed a complete refund without any conditions or insulting strings attached to it. And as if anyone would want to keep non-functional software that actually makes the car SLOWER anyway?

Jakpro, honestly, it might be time to hire a lawyer and go from there. Legally, you didn't get what you paid for and you're entitled to a refund. It would be a very easy thing to an attorney to wrap up for you, and probably wouldn't cost that much either. Don't just throw $5k away. That's a lot of money these days.

And actually, aren't you even out more, when you factor in the extra $1500 ECU you had to buy?

Unbelievable... after months of "we'll ship it tomorrow" and never seeing the ECU, they expect you to ship it back to them?

I think this could be more damaging to Andy/MHP's reputation than the initial debacle. How are people going to have faith in the "money back guarantee" now?

That's pretty weak Jim. I guess that Andy/MHP feels that he can't do anything to save his reputation, so he's just going to stick it to you.

The best compromise I can see is he gives you a full refund, then you can return the extra stuff.. let him wait on you this time around.
