Help: Car Went Into Limp Mode [couldn't accelerate]
I have a 2004 E55
Today I was waiting at a traffic light and when it finally turned green I started to go and halfway through I realized that the accelerator wasn't working. I'm guessing this is limp mode?
I pull over and restart the car and it worked fine after that. This is the first time that it has happened.
I searched the forums and someone else had something similar to this, but not quite and that was due to his engine oil temperature getting too hot. Mine was normal though.
Any ideas?
P.S. I have a sprint booster..maybe I should check the connection?
Thanks

Were you beating on it prior to the problem?
If yes, have you changed your coolant pump yet?
If yes,did you use an OEM version or the Johnson pump?
If no, change the pump to the Johnson 030.
If the pump is working, it may be your crank position sensor.
Try searching on those terms and see if your symptoms are matched by others.

I read somewhere on this forum (can't find the thread) that the intercooler pump should remain running ofr 5-15 seconds after the key is switched off. Is this correct? I don't hear anything after I turn the key off. I am planning on ordering the CM30 anyway but wanted to check to see if I have the dreaded ic pump failure.

please better describe the issue. If your "accelerator" isn't working then if you floor it it will take 15-20 seconds to get to 20 mph - its insane. Issue is pedal sensor position. If you don't have the "full" HP then its a cooling pump issue. the two issues feel and are VERY different.
