Texas Mile
Smart call on the bet. It's a race with my buddy Alex (Vralexander). I think he's bringing his Supra as well as his slow CGT.

I'm super bummed, he said my car will do around 180 based on the weight and HP. Why ship a car out of state for that?

I think I might just go watch now? He said they are doing some sort of combo race before hand. It includes track, road, and 1/4 I think? I can get you info? No bet is involved....just good people and fast cars!
Yeah...real slow...

Jim:
Glad to see that you didn't turn this into another ugly chapter.
Are you doing anything special aerodynamically to the BS. I would imagine at 200+mph the wind is your biggest enemy.

You should bring your car, there's only one way to find out. Get it as low as you can and mash the pedal to the floor!

For you guys running, you might want to check out this article by Tire Rack on increasing the tire pressure for high speed runs:

Not sure how to balance that out by trying to deflate the tires for a good launch.

Dunno? He has so many exotics it's hard to say. I know his car was on that show. I can't wait to see him try and beat his record at the mile. He ran 212 with his GT and 207 with his Supra last year. He is a great driver and his Supra is over 1000hp I think and he only ran 207 before the mile ended.
Good point, I never really paid attention to the amount of real estate I used up on my 206mph run. Seeing that it was a very slightly uphill run I'm sure I used more than a mile.
Basically any car that can do the mile in 200+ is supposed to be very stout.
Good luck to you guys.
This was Road & Track's test a couple of years back on cracking the 200mph with a Bugatti Veyron, Ruf Rt12, Hennessey Viper, Ligenfelter Corvette, Murcielago and SLR. They have the 1mile acceleration times/speeds on the last page. Interesting to note that the Murcielago and SLR couldn't crack 200mph on that day.

Maybe this answers that point...the Viper was on BFG drag radials and the Vette was running Michelin Pilot Sports.
Trying to keep this on topic...maybe it is best to still go with drag radials for the Texas Mile.... it seemed to help the Viper above...

In the past ( I have been to every event since the beginning ) they have not done much with the launching area other than let you do burnouts. I suggested they bring a sweeper for the entire mile, but I'm not paying for it.. LOL
A mile seems like a long way, but many 1st timers are supprised when they do not max out. 1,2,3,4th gears come really quick, but 5th and maybe 6th take forever!
If you are planning on going down, driving all the way from Cali, make sure you have room(s) soon. Goliad and Beeville book up pretty quickly. I may have a room or two extra if someone needs one. PM me and I will give you the rezo info.
I cannot recall a MB ever making the run and to have a C63 or CLK Black come out will make it interesting. I would love to bring a 2008 S65 with the limiter removed..

I am no VRAlexander, know who he is
, but I am willing to help out if anyone from out of state needs it.Good Luck to everyone making the trip out!

I can tell you pretty much everyone spins off the line, IMO the sooner you start putting the power to the ground, the higher your speed will be at the end of the mile. They are not measuring time, simply speed through the traps...
I tried trac control on and off, on gave me higher speeds in the end in the car(s) The bike was all throttle control...
Maybe bring out a broom and have one of your support persons sweep off 10-20' and use some VHT ?

Before SW the record was held by Tommy Bahn (another Supra)
