SLR vs 55K Exhaust Valve
How the heck did you do that?
You have an E55 right?
I tried and tried and aside from trying the SLR rear in my car, couldn't figure it out. I have 2.82's from an SL55.
Just curious.
This is awesome....there are crazy AMG modders like me all over the world.
Could also be Inconel perhaps?
.. it's not rare even in much cheaper cars
(I think my son's Opel Astra turbo has the same thing)
Mercedes put it also in the latest 350 engine
should check if our stock valves also have it or not

its a long story
somewhere I already posted it ..
should try now if it works also from an electronical point ov view .. I have my newly modded TCU her ein front of me
I even do not dare to ...

ps: IT'S a CLS55 !!
pps: I like the name that YOU, as its Padrino, gave to AMG LSD !

imho, the question for porting is this:
- bigger intake, we don't need
- bigger exhaust means higher valve and head temp, less velocity ... Somebody already did their homework... maybe we can POLISH
as women say ... bigger is not always better
as I found here (last 2 rows of this interesting description)
http://www.c32life.com/stats.htm

... ours are not
I didn't search a lot but couldn't easily find the same info for our 55K

so I had a more attentive look at my new valves: SLR clearly shows it has been worked both on bottom and on top to fill it with that metallic sodium, while there are no signs on our 55K valve;
further, SLR shows a thicker filling material had been carried over it ( translating directly from italian to english it should be called "nitruration process" and maybe also some reinforcing "stellite" (Co-Cr-W-C alloy) has beed carried over its base
this picture showing also the thermal impact distribution on the valve, should help:
as far as I understand a half millimeter difference in sections can play a big role ..
sorry I m not going to touch it
sad, because I don't know if I will ever get a similar deep passion with another car as I feel with this one
statistically, it happens to me one time each 10 year

OHBEV: ..same reasoning.. had it be done on SLR I could have tried to copy ..but can't afford to do the homework myself .. even if after looking at those many companies here able to custom produce all these valves, cams .. I go crazy
were it a 722GT maybe I would try
btw.. sounds good
