Air Pump Problem
Air Pump Problem
Got my 50k mile tranny and diff service and had the shop run for code since the CHK ENG light was on.
He came up that the Airpump and Relay are setting off the code. Is this something that I can do myself or am I going to have to pay the piper.
Anybody else had this problem? What should I do its like 540 bucks in parts.
thanks

Find out what the parts are. Are they replacing those parts or doing something with coding? Is the car an '03? Maybe just coincidence, but this will be the 3rd '03 with this issue in 3 months.

The car should drive the same although I dunno if it affects the tune or emissions at all.
I say check into the warranty. ALL '03s WITHOUT updated ECU flashes COULD have the issue...

I called the dealer today and they said they have no record of any open recalls for my vehicle. So they scheduled my to come in and see the problem. Should I take the bulletin with me. And do you think this should be covered even though I am out of warranty?
Yes, take the bulletin in and yes it should be covered, IF your simptoms are the same as the bulletin. On the DTB itself it says what to "look" for so be sure that you explain the problem in that way as well. They play games with "understanding" what you are saying and don't relate it to the DTB.
Cool, then take it in and let us know. Make sure they check to see that you do indeed have the most recent MB flash. That is another way to cure it.

I just got the the car last month. And yes the car is as describe in the bulletin. Check Engine is on.
