I know. I just don't like the half way done stuff of some aftermarket manufacturers. I know might me hard to understand but that's the way I want to do retrofits. But I still don't know for sure if that part number is the "AMG" or the "Mercedes Benz" one.

I think the part number that was posted is for the "AMG" one since it was in the AMG accessories catalog. I heard they are pretty difficult to get though.

The "Mercedes-Benz" one can probably be ordered from any US dealer. Not 100% sure though.

I'm not sure but the aftermarkets ones may not turn off automatically if the door is left open too long.

Here they are on my car:

Wow, that's great. Do you think that your dealership can get other AMG parts that are in the AMG accessories catalog? I tried a while ago (six years ago) when I was looking for these door sills, but many dealerships at that time said they couldn't get anything from AMG. Maybe things have improved since then.

Can you ask for the parts number for the MB door sills illuminated when you go in to pick them up?

It's not that difficult to do. I actually have a video showing the engineers or technicians in Stuttgart doing it for this training video.

Don't you think this is laziness of the dealership rather than "cannot" do it?

It could have been but I doubt it. The parts guy I work with is pretty good.

I just remember people who got these illuminated door sills a few years ago had to go through European contacts to get them.

It's great though that you can order them from US MB dealers now though. I may try getting other items too.

Well said. I know that it's hard to get parts here if they are not offered for the US market in the first place b/c they don't show up in EPC.

So on a relative topic, I have those OEM Mercedes door sills but only the driver side will light up now. The other 3 appear like they have "burnt out". Anybody have any suggestions on where to look for the fix?

I only had the two illuminated door sills for the front doors and the regular for the rear, but after one went out I went to Mercedes along with other things to be fixed under my Chrysler warranty. Needless to say, those idiots instead of replacing one gave me a whole set up 4 new ones for free along with a new e63 instrument cluster and more! This was about eight months ago and my service rep was great

Id start with checking for power to them with a test light or multimeter
Make sure they are actually getting the 12 volts.

The rectangular plastic really doesn't jump out at you unless you compare it directly to the $1100 OEM one. Certainly isn't a $900 difference to me.

Why 1100 bucks for OEM? They are listed for about 350 to 400 bucks depending where you're looking for them. But as far as I know, they are not manufactured anymore for W211. Whatever is left in different warehouses is what one can buy.

Give me your VIN in a PM. I'll ask my buddy for a quote. Can't beat his prices... Oh, when I talked about 350 - 400, that was for W211, not W212. But let's see what I can do for you.
