E55 Headers

Sorry if you all already know about this, I just saw this on CL today and thought someone here might be interested. These are NOT for sale by me, I'm just passing on the info:

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/pts/1068881510.html

evosports/LET headers for E55/cls55/S55 AMG - $800 (san jose downtown)

UP for sale is two sets of performance header for the mercedes benz 5.5L AMG compressor engine, it can also be used for 5.5L N/A engine, as well as the 5.0L non-AMG engine.

Evosports Headers: with software tuning and larger pully, you can get closed to 570hp and 670flb tq on a 5.5L AMG compressor engine, that is about 100hp and 100flb power gain. $900

LET Headers: with software tuning and larger pully, you can get closed to 540hp and 670flb tq on a 5.5L AMG compressor engine, that is about 70hp and 100flb power gain. $800

it will fit on your E55, CLS55, S55.

thanks for looking, if interested please call 408-648-6854

thanks

the ad is somewhat misleading though, as the AMG 55 series headers only work on M 113 engines,,

the NA 550 mercs use the M 273 engine and was told by EVO, VADIM and KLEEMAN they are different and not interchangable, so buyers be warned..

M113 and M 273 headers different. not interchangable

Just my opinion, but installing headers WITHOUT also doing a pulley, ecu tune, etc. is a waste of money for the increase in power.

I would spend the money for a pulley and ecu tune but never for headers. The gain just isn't worth it.

What are you basing this off of?? My car felt significantly faster after doing just headers.

This is good to hear. I have the renntech stage 1 plus a crankshaft pulley, and am adding evosport headers, throttle bodies, intercooling package and evosport wiring next monday. Hope it adds some nice performance and also hope I notice the difference.

not true,, with headers and cats you can get 25 hp from shorties
and 35 from long tube ones..

the key to tuning a car for more power is not to try and do it with 1 or 2 large power gains,, as they usually put more wear and tear on the motor anyway, but from many many little improvements,

if you do like 10 things each improvement giving you 10 hp that is 100 hp
over the long run..

that is what mercedes and AMG and other car makers do every year
they find something inefficnet and do a change resulting in 20 hp here 10 there,,

headers are one of the best tried and true gains

and think about this,, no matter what you do to a car to improve the HP ,
your pulley, a SC, turbo , heads, ECU,,

in the end the car has to do 2 thhings to benefit from anyof those,

BREATH in enough AIR and expell enough air,,

if you do other improvements and the headers are a bottleneck which they ARE in mERCS, then you will see less gains from your other mods
cause the headers are not as efficient
