Goodbye E55, hello Porsche
My 2006 E55 lease expire in June and I have be shopping for a new car for a while. First it was Cayenne Turbo and then I test drove the 997 C4S with PDK last Saturday(didn't drive the 997 Turbo since it was out of my budget) I was quite impress with the car especially in Sport-Plus setting. I like it so much I ordered one for late May/early June delivery. Here is the spec
2009 911 C4S
Guard Red
Black full leather
Self-dimming mirrors
Park-assist
Dynamic cornering lights
Sport Chrono Package Plus
7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)
PASM Sports Suspension
Wheel Caps with Colored Crest
19" Carrera S II wheel(standard wheel)
Wheel Caps with Colored Crest
Heated Steering Wheel
Heated Front Seats
Adaptive Sports Seats with Driver Memory
3-Spoke PDK Multifunction Steering Wheel in Smooth Leather
Storage Compartment Lid with Model Logo
Porsche Crest in Headrests
PCM Voice Control
XM Radio
BOSE High End Sound Package
Bluetooth Interface for Mobile Phone
Navigation Module for PCM
I got a 8% discount off MSRP and was satisfy with the price for a order car. What do you guys think? This is the first time I venture outside of Mercedes.

Congrats
That's going to be one hellava ride! Personally I would've done a MT for a P-car but I hear the PDK is amazing and technically superior (read: faster shifting)...
Did you consider the aero kit? Or is that too over-the-top for you?

Nicely optioned car. Is limited slip diff available with the PDK? If so that's the only change I'd make. You will miss the torque.

The PDK felt quite smooth up and down shift. I tried it manual shifting and there no lag time. Normal auto is silk smooth but at sport setting it is something else; it shifts close to redline each gear, it pushes you back into the seat and the sound(had window down and no radio) is addicting.
Didn't consider the aero kit because that would go over my budget and it wasn't an option anyway. Plus I am putting an inground pool for the family next month so I have to be a responsible husband and father. Limited slip wasn't an option. I did thought about red seat belt but it would too flashy.
This will be a daily car and I will miss the torque. But after test driving the C4S for 20 minutes I could learn to live w/o the massive torque of E55.

I just went from a Porsche Carrera C2 to the Benz. I loved my Porsche but as far as a daily driver goes I'm hooked on the E55. However if I had no need for a backseat and had the funds to get an 09 C4S with PDK I'd consider a switch back.
FYI, now when some fellow Porsche owners ask you to go to the "track", be aware that it's not the same "track" the E55 owners would be referring too.

That is a good one
I wish I work for AIG. Instead of Porsche it would of been a Ferrari and a olympic size swimming pool
I am just a humble small town dentist( actually from Los Angeles, when to school in Boston and settle around Buffalo NY)

I am putting in a 18x36 vinyl/liner pool in oasis shape with LED light, salt generator, Jandy sand filter, MDX self cleaning system, 400k BTU gas heater, Loop Loc winter cover, additional concrete(400 sq/ft) in addition to 3 feet around pool and leaf canister. All this for $37,500. I originally was going for the gunite but it would double my annual tax for the pool compare to the vinyl pool. Plus the gunite would cost $12,000 more for the same size of pool. I hope this help.

John, you're going to love driving the 997. I took my 996 out last week after driving the newly acquired E55 for a few days and quickly forgot how involving and rewarding the driving experience is in the Porsche. Each car has their own strengths. I'm sure you'll enjoy the new ride!

John, here is what you are gonna here once you get that Guards Red all done up:
"Wow I really dont like or never been a fan of red but I love your car"
I think I heard it about 5 times at a recent meet at the Oakley HQ. Silvers, Blacks, and even Whites are saturating the P car market. And you will love the DCT- its so amazing in its shift speeds and process. Welcome to world of incredible good handling too!!
Any mods planned? (drop, engine kinks)
Here is a shot of Pcar from the meet:
