Does anybody knows what`s the part number or name (I guess protecting, heat sheild) on top of the ''intake manifold'' (not sure if it`s the right term, I`m not a mecanic )
Where the AMG builder signature metal plate is stamp.

thanks

In the picture above (6.3 motor), the parts with the "AMG" logo are the airbox covers, on a 55K motor they would be the intake runners or plenum as the intake air is "plumbed" much differently. They should be easy for a dealer to locate on the computer.

Are you talking about a heat shield piece underneath those gray pieces with the AMG logos on them or are you inquiring about those two gray boxes themselves? Those two gray pieces, like others have mentioned, are the air boxes.

That's the intake and IIRC it's magnesium.

I would think that is the intake manifold, with the throttle body located in the rear.

On the E55, that item is the supercharger.

What is it on the E63? Is that a cover? Is it cosmetic?

Tony: It is an intake manifold and to replace it will run you $$$$$.

Try using a paint polisher, it might lighten the scratches.
