E63 ?'s
My name is Rob and I'm a long-time BMW owner. Thinking about coming over to your side now. I have located a particular E63 that seems very rare compared to all the vehicles I've seen in person and on the internet. The MBZ and AMG websites are not as user-friendly as I would have expected in terms of finding out the info. I seek. However, I think I have figured out the answer from some searching on this forum, but I would still appreciate some experts clarification on the following, if you would please...
Pics. of the car are below.
1.) These wheels are different. They are exclusive to the performance pkg., yes?
2.) Does the carbon fiber come with this package?
3.) How rare (in terms of % of E63's sold in the US) is a car equipped like this?
4.) Any other significant differences with this package over the reg. E63?

- AMG 2-piece wheels
- Top speed limiter set to 186 mph instead of 155 mph
- Limited Slip Differential (40% locking ratio)
Now to answer some of your questions:
1) Yes, those wheels come with the performance package, but just like any part, they can also be ordered separately.
2) For MY2007, the package did not include carbon fiber. However, MY2008 included the carbon fiber, then was taken out again in MY2009.
3) The performance package is extremely rare on the E63. A friend of mine actually told me that out of all MY2007 E63s that were made, only 9 had the performance package. Of course, there was significantly more for MY2008 and MY2009.

This car has almost 14 ticks. Not worth the extra bucks for the performance package, IMO. However, this car looks nice. They want $64,000, what are you beating them down to? I think you need to be in the car for 60-61 max.
One thing I noticed is the car fax, this car only had 8K miles at the beginning of February and now has 14K. That's a lot of miles for basically one month's driving.
Good luck and do your research. Try to talk to the previous owner.

The car looks like it's equipped with the P30 package (titled AMG Performance Package). The package consists of:
- Alacantra steering wheel
- Track calibrated suspension
- AMG 2-piece wheels
- Top speed limiter set to 186 mph instead of 155 mph
- Limited Slip Differential (40% locking ratio)
Now to answer some of your questions:

They're popping up everywhere...But seriously, out of all the used E63s on autotrader, cars.com, e-bay, and Manheim auction, I was only able to find 3 E63s that actually had the performance package. This is is very rare when you see how many E63s are out there

So, consensus is that this is a pretty rare car. Am I right to assume that maybe 1 in 100 has the package? Seems that way from Autotrader and ebay listings that I have viewed.
Performance package has no engine mods. over regular E63, right?
I think I read in another thread that the ride quality is the same as non P30 equipped.
Another thing I've always wondered is why MBZ doesn't at least offer the option of a manual box? Any opinions from y'all?
