Interesting....although you can see from the first run the M5 looks as though it's catching up at higher speeds with the better gearing; but they both lifted...CTS for sure has the jump with the monster torque...I drove my buddies E60 the other day and was unimpressed to say the least.

The way it looked to me was that though the pull of the CTS-V wasn't as great at higher speeds, it was in fact still pulling on the M5.

I know, me neither!

The last CTS-V was only 'decent'. They were starting to go in the right direction, but the car handled like crap, had wheel hop problems because of weak suspension, and the build quality wasn't so great. From what people are saying about this new one, it looks like they finally got their act together.

Shame it took two decades and GM going bust before they realized you can't sell a total turd for the same price as the german and japanese stuff, and expect to keep happy customers.

It does look like the M5 was gaining at higher speeds. CTS-V moves very well. Nice find!

It looks like the V is also spotting the M a half a car.

Didn't sound like the M5 was hitting the redline to me...at least not like I have seen in other vids...although it still would have lost I believe.

I don't even think the CTS-V was trying that hard. The BMW driver certainly did get a 1/2 car length head start.

The V is impressive.
