Interesting....although you can see from the first run the M5 looks as though it's catching up at higher speeds with the better gearing; but they both lifted...CTS for sure has the jump with the monster torque...I drove my buddies E60 the other day and was unimpressed to say the least.

I know, me neither!
The last CTS-V was only 'decent'. They were starting to go in the right direction, but the car handled like crap, had wheel hop problems because of weak suspension, and the build quality wasn't so great. From what people are saying about this new one, it looks like they finally got their act together.
Shame it took two decades and GM going bust before they realized you can't sell a total turd for the same price as the german and japanese stuff, and expect to keep happy customers.
