Do all 55K engines share the same airbox?
Reason I ask is I've had a complete 55K air intake setup sitting in my garage for months. I planned on fitting it to my E500 for kicks, just to see what happens. Anyway, the place I got them from listed them as 2003 Cl55 air boxes. Part#'s A1130900501 and A1130900601. Now, here's the the thing. I was always under the impression that my E500 filters were a direct swap to the E55K air boxes and all other 55K boxes, for that matter. If you do a search on K&N they certainly list the same part #'s for both. Even the OEM Mann filters list the same part numbers. Oddly enough, my E500 filters will not fit in this particular set of airboxes I have. My filters are a bit to tall and the box won't close correctly.
Any ideas? I'm stumped.

I think you're not following me. I'm trying to put my OEM E500 filters into my CL55 airboxes. I'm assuming since all the parts houses are listing the same parts #'s for my E500 and ALL 55K cars, that my OEM filters should be a direct swap. They're not.

I dont think Blackbenzz meant any disrespect with what he said. More times than not, its slight over sights that get people hung up.. Happens to us all.
On the down side
The 55k airbox fitted to an NA m113 motor will net you 0whp and possibly loose you some whp. Hate to be bring the bad news, but I did testing on the dyno and the renntech airbox made about 15whp more than the 55k airbox.

LOL....Ahmad and I are boys. We both know that we were joking.
On the serious side.....looks like I have a set of 55K boxes and y-pipe for sale.
That's great info from the dyno. Thanks!

my bad, didn't know you are buds. Mikey how about those cams?
The E55 airbox on the NA motors is a hoax. I hope people see the results. On a side note: You may want to keep that 55k airbox.
IF you want some more power quick and for a lot less I would encourage all people running 55k stock airboxes to get some silicone hoses and some cone filters and make your own.
People complain about cone filers in the engine bay and sucking hot air. Lets face it all intakes get some form of heat soak. The 55k airbox filters sit on top of the valve cover that can get up to 190 degrees or more.
Today I was at the shop doing some IAT testing when i was taking temp readings the headers after a quick drive was 220 degrees and my valve covers were 175 degrees. My custom intake has one part that is metal and the temp on that was 160 degrees on the silicone the temp was 120 degrees. Granted the air in your intake is only there for a millisecond or so.
People should just buy a bunch of silicone hoses, couplers, clams and two cone filters and make a Saturday project out of it. If no vender is going to make affordable intakes for your cars then make your own. Just use the stock y splitter to make a duel intake. The hose size you will need to fit the ovel shaped Y splitter is 3.5 inches. Then you could get a "reducer" and go from 3.5 inches to 4 inches to allow a bit more flow. You could do a duel intake set up like the "VRP fangs" for under $400 even cheaper if you keep the filters inside the engine bay.
IF this is an option you would be interested in: You need to know a few basic things. to keep the hoses from compressing under vacuum you need to insert some small support rings. I cut mine out of 3 inch pipe and put then inside the hose. IF using smaller sections of hose the joining coupler should be enough support.
Here is a website i found that has the stuff you need cheap.
