Painting the roof Black

I think where you went wrong was thinking I was insinuating anything. Again we come back to what I said earlier, this is about opinions. I have stated my opinions, without insulting you (intentionally, that is). Anyway, enough with this non-sense. Who really cares at this point? You have a black roof and you're not a poser. No one is in disagreement about that.
Where did you go to law school and when did you graduate, perhaps we know each other. Feel free to PM me, I'm always interested in meeting fellow attorneys in socal with similar interests outside of the law (its not often I meet one with an interest in cars).

I actually like the look of the two toned black roof on a white w211(with black wheels). Especially the way it blinds in with front/back windows. It's all personally preference. I would do it in a heartbeat..Not painting it but black matte vinyl.

Also keep in mind that the pano roof adds almost 100 lbs to the car and starts making creeking sounds after a while. Thats why I decided not to go for it. When push comes to shove, i'd rather be a "poser" in this particular case...

Being as to how you live with both cars, and probably know them inside and out, how does your 211 feel and compare to the 221? Generally speaking (not just performance wise, but that too )

OFF THE HOOK - DO IT. I'm gonna wrap mine in high gloss black vinyl...Look at Alexbenz's W210...if that dosn't sell you on it - nothing will. If you are even contemplating it - do it. (assuming of course you have projectors, 00-02 tail lights etc, etc, etc.) Go for it...just my .02
-By the way, PROPS on that widebody. I know it is in the hands of another proud owner now but I still see that and am amazed. Tasefully done. Mission complete.
-5series is WAY tight too, but I'm biast in terms of the 210s

Like the look of a pano roof, but i actually can't stand them. My apron on my driveway is steep and it sounds like my car is going to snap in half every time i go up it. Knowing what i know now I'd rather a metal painted roof. Do what ever you like.

Thanks for the insight, I was seriously thinking that my next project was going to be a W211 (mandatory pano roof) but after hearing what yours and countless others experience has been, yeah maybe just paint or vynal it...no function though besides cosmetics.

I'll put my foot in my mouth now-AZIPOD is a 211 owner - hence the w211 room lol. ...Selfish me, just thinking about my ride and upcoming mods. before. By the way I saw some guys on craigslist that'll install the vynal wrap for like $100.
-you got it Alex. Thanks for the inspiration.

Back to the topic, if you want it to look like the Pano roof then I say no. If you like the look of the black roof I say yes, especially after seeing some of the people here who did the same.

I had my roof vinyled a matte/satin black a couple weeks ago. I didn't want it to look like a pano imitation, hence the reason I went with a non gloss finish. It turned out awesome, no bubbles or creases at all, all the edges are tucked under the trim and wrapped cleanly around the corners. Just about everyone thinks I painted my roof, not to mention they all love it as much as I do.
