Sidemarker bulbs
Has anyone found a good replacement bulb that shines white rather than the amber hue? I know a lot of people have had mixed results so I'm curious as to which ones are legit. Thanks

Ever think about getting the euro strips and deleting the side markers all together?

Sorry I should have been more specific, I just want something that is a little brighter than the dull stock bulbs. I'm not looking for the hyper white Xenon bluish ricer lights, just something thats not so dull.

Go with any of the PIAAs. They are called ExtremeWhite or HyperWhites, I forget. I believe it's the 194/168 bulb. The bulb is blue, but flashes white, not a yellowish white like the stock halogens.
In CA, I believe only the rear turn signals need to flash amber, the fronts and side markers can flash white.

I don't know why it would be ricey? I have clear sidemarkers and these Chrome Hyper White bulbs do it justice. Not as brite as the stock bulb IMO but Very clean.
Also, FYI, It is NOT as blue in person, more white. Picture just looks blue.

I have whites on all my cars, including the rear turn lights. I think the white blinkers originated from Japan. Regardless, I think they look really good. I hate the Amber turn signals, they look "too stock."

Color match your sidemarkers or get the euro strips and tied down your bulbs to the insided fender. Those ugly markers on the E just should not be there.

2004 E55 AMG; 1995 Porsche 993 Cab.
CA Vehicle code:
Sidemarkers:
25100. (a) Except as provided in subdivisions (b) and (d), every vehicle 80 inches or more in overall width shall be equipped during darkness as follows:
(1) At least one amber clearance lamp on each side mounted on a forward-facing portion of the vehicle and visible from the front and at least one red clearance lamp at each side mounted on a rearward-facing portion of the vehicle and visible from the rear.
(2) At least one amber side-marker lamp on each side near the front and at least one red side-marker lamp on each side near the rear.
there's more to this section ... but d) states:
(d) Clearance and side-marker lamps are not required on auxiliary dollies or on passenger vehicles other than a housecar. (<=motorhome)
So basically you do NOT need sidemarkers, but they should (techically) be amber if you have them.
Turn Signals:
24953. (a) Any turn signal system used to give a signal of intention to turn right or left shall project a flashing white or amber light visible to the front and a flashing red or amber light visible to the rear.
Pretty clear.

Since my first AMG so are mine. I get pulled over all the time but not once for having no amber on my car. And even after I was pulled over, not once was I ever asked about my turn signals or side markers being DOT orange.
Ill take that chance all day long instead of my car having the pumpkin accessory lights/markers

Over the years, I've learned not to use turn signals and stay in the lane whenever a CHP is behind me. I guess I screwed up this time around. hehe
