I took the E in this morning for the D Service, SRS light, and the February, 2009 updated Startec bulletin which addresses the supercharger squeal/grind. The dealership gave me a C300 4matic to drive. The navigation is soooooo much nicer than the navi on the '04 E55. QUESTION: If an updated navi dvd is purchased, will the graphics be as nice as the c300 or are the graphics the same as the old dvd but with updated roads, landmarks, etc.?

no I think you will have to purchase an 09 to get the upgrade you are looking for.

Thanks. I figured as much. I think I'll save the $95,000 and keep the '04 with the crappy navi!

Might not be easy or "cheap" but nothing is cheap by MB standards. You can find the new COMAND units on eBay for ~$2k, and after the install you can sell your original COMAND and NAV drive+CD to recover some of the cost. There is also a gentleman that makes a wiring harness that helps with the install...
