Need advise on purchasing an E55
Hello MBWorld, first post here. From what I've read, this is my type of forum/community. I'll get right to it, I'm looking to purchase an E55 and have my eye on two of them. The one I'd prefer has a questionable service history (IMO) so I'm hoping some of you seasoned owners can chime in and steer me in the right direction, no pun intended.
From the vehicle's maintenance records, it appears that oil changes have taken place between 12-14 months with the mileage in the 12000-16000 range. To me, that seems pretty high for a performance vehicle. What are your thoughts?
On the flip side, my wife drives an '08 ML350 that we leased at the end of '07. Somewhere around 11 months, a message came up to change oil with a countdown to the date we purchased it. Are all MB's engineered for extended maintenance periods, in particular the E55? Anyone experience oil consumption issues?
Thanks in advance

I believe MB reccomends an oil change every 10,000 miles. Personally I would never go more than 3,000 miles without changing my oil 3,500 tops. It's very possible that the person who owned the car before you used an indy shop for oil changes in between stealership services. This would not show up on an MB service history report. Unfortunately the only way to tell would be to contact the previous owner. Good Luck with your purchase.

Thanks for the reply NDF55. ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
These are the only service records. Common sense would be to walk away from this one and that's what I'll have to do. I was just hoping someone would have some information that would make me overlook my gut feeling.
