CLS55 AMG 030
Would anyone here consider the CLS55AMG over or instead of the E55 or E63 if it was comparably priced and CPO?
I've found a black on black beauty CLS55 30K miles for high 40's certified. Car was $104K new.

The CLS vs the is a personal preference. The drivetrain is the same (mostly). I personally like the E better, BUT I kind of like the CLS55 since it was only made in '06. Much rarer than most AMGs even and the style isn't as dated if you like it. I would do it. Just keep in mind that it has a 2 seat rear and not a bench rear seat, if that matters.

The dealer told be the car has some sort of Performance rear end upgrade
? Any idea what that is? Sounded like it was a MB option and being that it's a CPO it must be.
What's that about?

This thread reminds me waaayyy too much of a Civic TypeR Mugen Spec II VTEC type thread with keyboard cowboys at the helm.
I'll admit I'm a lurker here, and have been reading this forum for nearly 2 years now and rarely ever post. My only complaint is the in-fighting within MBZ owners. This 55 vs 63 bashing is a great example.
Dudes, we're all on the same team. Want to argue, head over to the ///M forums, or if you really want to ruffle feathers, the Lexus forums Those dudes are nuts.
On another note, 99% of the world would **** their pants over either car, the 55 or the 63 E-Class. My vote is for the 63 if only b/c it will likely have a longer warranty. The performance of either is glorious.

The funny thing about it is you rarely ever see a 63 guy start stuff. It's always people like Jangy with insecurity issues that say stuff like "well the E55 is faster so if you get the E63 it sucks".

Thanks for that response ... the 2 seat rear doesn't bother me ... I'll be driving. But seriously ... I'd only do 2 couples in the car regardless.

Keep going, the more you try to make it personal the more your real agenda comes out. How many ownage threads do we need to have before the campaign ends? Oh, my bad.... you've been here all of 6 months so yeah you know. You make it so easy to tell who is here to help OP out and who is here to instigate........ I'm so insecure.....oh no, save me. What does hating people with pompous attitudes have to do with me being insecure?
Now be honest, what was your last car?

But I ended up buying E63. E55 and CLS55 are great cars. I choose E63 because it had low miles on it.

Yes, you can buy from out of state. I bought mine from TX to CA, I made the dealer included free shipping include all fees except my state tax and smog fees. I had to make sure it was CA state smog legal and check the vehicles history. I called the vehicle registered state's DMV to check on the vehicle usung its VIN number. The DMV does it for free. Check eBay or the Mercedes used vehicle, autotrader.com, I checked everywhere online and for a while, but its was worth while to get the vehicle you like.

12,000 posts. I think someone needs to get up from the desk and get outside. Seriously man. You can't let the internet get to you. Every thread I read of yours you are very tense and defensive. It's a classic sign of stress and a rough life. I'm not trying to be rude at this point. I'm just saying you may want to go do a bucket list or something.

I'm just messing with you. You take a lot of heat on here. I'm not your enemy. I just wish we could get rid of all the hatred. Anyways, you did have a good thread with the SIRI. I got in on that one at .15 60,000 shares

The E55 have some rough edges. It has a lot of bells and whistles.
The E63 is more refined, has upgraded some bells and whistles but also lost some at the same time.
What we can all agree on is that the E55 is more powerful, more upgradable, because of its "breathing apparatus."
In my opinion, what it comes down to is this: The E55 to me is a better car because it can be significantly more powerful. The E55 has brute force, and can hardly be considered unrefined. The E63 on the other hand, is a newer car, thats about it.
So do you want ultimate power? Or do you want a newer car (basically version-2)? I think basically it really just comes down to that difference.

CLS55 AMG 030
Includes some AMG performance steering wheel, Limited slip differential, delimitation of speed governor to 186mph, 19" wheels, AMG performance suspension and 030 AMG cosmetics?
Car has a total of over 17,000 in option upgrades.
CPO is only good for one year or 100,000 miles (Which is very unlikely i'd hit) + balance of warranty which is about 6months.

Car is beautiful ... IMO.
Are the CLS as fast and powerful as the E55's. The numbers seem to suggest so.

I think the CLS is just as modifiable since power train wise they are the same. I know the CLS is heavier so it should be a little bit slower. However I think the difference will be negligible in everyday driving.

If you like the CLs, then get that one. I would only get a CLS55 with 030. It is exactly as mod friendly, since identical drivetrain and neither has much room under the hood. Plus, you can put 305s on 11" rims while only 10s fit on the E55.
Now the bash. the CLS is heavier and has a higher coefficient of drag. Honestly, the difference to me is negligable.
Go for it!!

I was looking at E55s for months and then impulse bought an E63. I didn't realize the price was so neglible between the two. I had never really even looked at the E63 because I thought it would be like C63 new prices. Anyways, I drove it and ultimately picked the 63 because I am planning no mods. I had an 11 second 240sx that I was tired of working on, and is just in a totally different class altogether. Since it was only slightly more, had a CPO, and was the same power without a poweradder most likely ensuring longer reliability I bought the 63 with P2 and it's black on black which I wanted.

But I am very happy with the purchase. I got a used 2008 E63 rare white on black color for $62,000 shipped from TX to CA. The kkb at the time was $65,800 now its about $62,000, but thats not including the performance package option which is a $5,000 for a used vehicle.

During that time when the economy was still not good and I noticed all the higher end car's prices are dropping fast, even the Kely's Blue Book was lowering the E63 prices every week of about $2000! Price has gone back up now. I also noticed this dealer could not sell this car several times on Ebay, because buyers could not get credit. I bought direct from them in TX. I have been looking for this color combination for almost a year before the purchase. Try often on Ebay, Mercedes Certified vehicle (search nationwide) and autotrade.com. They have updates often.
