20" Monarch Euro 63RS rear caliper clearance Question
He guys and girls,
I just had my wheels deliverd this morning and had a look at the rear wheel fitment and i dont like what i see, i have under 1mm clearance between the rim and the caliper, if i was to buy 3mm spacers would i have any problems with the hubcentric side of things, meaning will i get any vibration caused by using the 3mm spacers, they come with a 5 mm spacer but i dont think i want to use them as they cause the wheel to have no engagement into the hub at all, I love the look of them but i hate having to use spacers.
someone please tell me that i will be ok if i use 3mm spacers, and where can i get some decent ones.
thanks in advance
Scott

I put my set on last week. I had anticipated this issue, so I ordered a set of 3mm and 5mm with longer bolts for each size. I ended up using the 5mm spacers because the wheel is more flush with the fender. I have no vibration or issues at all. I order all of my spacers and wheel bolts from All Springs.

I would order the 3mm if you are concerned about them being hub centric as the 3mm will allow it to bite on the center hub a little more then the 5mm's would
However the 3mm are slightly more expensive at $65 a pair, the 5mm's are $47 a pair.
Longer Bolts are $2.50 a bolt.
Let me know if you need a set.

It sucks when wheels you buy don't really fit the car right without the need for spacers and adapters. I get that wheel assemblers try to do as close as possible to a one design fits all approach with offsets, but if you end up not being fully hubcentric by adding spacers, plan on living with unwanted vibration.

I have them on my ride right now, without spacers, and haven't had any issues out back.... I will let you know if it changes though (it's been only 3-4 days so far).

MBWorld Fanatic!
I run the 3mm spacers for the rear. They sit perfect.

Let me know if you need the 3mm spacers, since I have a set that I didn't use.

Hey,
I am the largest distributor for Monarch and I personally own a 2006 E55. I had the RS wheels with et42 offset in the rear with no spacers and it worked just fine!

I fitted the rear wheels without a spacer and I had 0.65 mm clearence, for me personally I am not prepaired to roll the dice, maybe you have a little more clearence ? so i have bought some 3mm spacers as recomended but havent had a chance to fit them up yet. That will be monday as i get my Vredesteins.

No, those are the triple 5-spoke wheels that he sells as well. They're called Hamburg...a knock-off of the stock SL63 wheel, but with a stainless lip. I just got a set of those and put them on an SL500...they are equally as beautiful as the 63RS wheel. I was almost re-thinking myself when i saw the Hamburgs in person.
Warren told me they have more caliper clearance than the RS wheel for the E55 as well.

A Car
i have a few buddies that can only pass a credit card in between the caliper and wheel and they are fine.....even driving in bumpy roads in SF, it's still fine
