As some of you know, I am in the market for a new car. I was looking for a v12, obviously , but the dealer i test drove a s65 at had a used C63. So he asked if I had ever drove one. I said no, so he got the keys and we went for a ride.
I was impressed, like REALLY impressed. I could not believe that I am considering this car over a V12?!?!?!?!? It is the same money as a 05 sl65, 06 cl65, and 06 s65... but it drives completely different than all of those...
I think I am just going insane and I need to get something different, screw it, I'm buying a M5.......... NOT!!!

I've had a regular C-Class as a loaner a couple of times and I too really, really like the c-class. Believe it or not after having it as a loaner I really wanted to drive the C63 because even though the regular c-class is anemic power-wise, the chassis is superb with just the right blend of comfort and rigidity. I really love how it felt.
I don't think you are crazy for loving the C63... and you can make it quite fast... although obviously making it V12TT fast will not be easy.
Maybe it's a good idea for you aleks... you know... protecting yourself from yourself?

Headers, chip, dr's and good DA and you are 11.4-11.5.
Certainly wouldn't be slow with just a few basic mods.
I LOVED my test drive in the C63. Lots of fun.

mthis- Thats what I am thinking, I didnt realize that it was as fast stock, with a tune....
nick 55- I will never be as crazy as you Nick, no matter how much bailing wire is involved!
Harsany- I really liked the exhaust, and the overall feel of the car. It handled very well.
Blacksport350- That is one of the reasons I didnt pull the trigger right then and there... It is a 2008, and has alot of warranty left, but I know that I will be in the same hole I am with the e55!!!
Marcus Frost- Marcus, No one can protect me if I get my hands on a V12
baldmike73- While that is the idea solution, I want a new car for the summer....
juicee63- Mercedes benz of westmont has a red one inside the showroom and it is SHARP!!!
Jakpro1- That is exactly what I was looking to do. It would be plenty fast, but not Modded V12 fast
M-bENZ-
AMGfan- I was seriously considering it, but for $20,000 more than my other options, it doesnt seem like a choice that has a $20k merit.... dont get me wrong, I LOVE the BS, but at the moment it is not for me, but next year we will see

I don't mean to get flamed here, but if you're willing to look at a C63, why not an E92 M3? I've driven my friend's w/DCT, and it's a blast. Amazing transmission, high-revving V-8, and nearly flawless handling.
Sounds like you're pretty loyal to MB, though, which I respect...

I don't think you are crazy. The C63's are great cars but have you thought logically through this...
You were considering a tt v-12 (a bigger car in physical size and an overall upgrade) over the E (a bigger car in physical size over the C-Class).
Are you sure you want to go to a smaller car than the E-Class? A few inches here and there makes a big difference. If i were you I would not do a C63 over your E55. Am I suggesting this is a downgrade? Well, opinions vary but one could argue an E55 is is downgrade from a CL55, SL55, S55. You get the point. Not sure where the upside is for you.
Good luck.

There is alot to like about the C63. I think that 6.2L V8 is well suited to the the lighter weight of the C-Class (relative to other high performance MB's). It is a pretty impressive package.
I actually thought about getting the C63 instead of my CL65. The thing I couldn't get past was the thought that the CL65 was always on my "wish list" of cars I would get if money were no object, ever since it came out. The depreciated price made it too appealing to walk away from (and they have since dropped to ridiculous levels). The C63 is a great car, but it was never on that "wish list".

In response to your question in the thread title: YES!
As for the C-class, I think it is great. It's a smaller car though. Less room inside, but more nimble than the E55. Test drive them all before you decide.
Even though Marcus loves them, I personally can't stand the clear pieces on the mirrors.

imho, the C63 chassis is much better in terms of handling. Steering is less sloppy and overall the suspension is much tighter. It turns more flat; less body roll. More like a BMW.
But, I think the W212 will be much better in this regard, too. From what's been said so far the chassis has been redesigned and should be a lot more sport sedan-like. Maybe just wait for the W212 E63. The downside to the C63 is that it's smaller inside and with less creature comfort stuff.

And to aleksandar... As nice as the C63 is, I'd personally go for the 65 and only get a C63 if I were adding to my collection. Not replacing. Seems like too much of a downgrade, but would be one hell of a toy.
