Problem: Lagging RPM gauge at startup

Hello,

I just started up my car to save my roommates parking spot and noticed immediately that it was a little different.

First, I turned the car on and the RPMs peaked to like 2000, which is significantly above average, right? Then like the usual peak in RPM then drop this took longer to drop as if it was sort of holding the RPMs at 2000. Then, when it finally went down, the idle was rough and kept fluctuating.

When I finally parked, I turned the car off and turned it back on to check if the problem would come back, but this time, I can hear the car start but there is a significant delay (2-3 seconds) after hearing the car start to seeing the RPMs go up. However, the idle isn't choppy anymore.

I have 1 malfunction running which is the red warning light saying that I need a new SBC battery (what mercedes roadside assistance told me). And also, yesterday a message came on saying I need to add 1 quart of oil at next refueling, but then it went away..Could this be the problem?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

try to replace the small battery in the engine bay it may solve your problems.
