Had a weekend with the new Vredestein tires

Hey guys,

I had a pretty beat set of Conti's on the car and when I had all the mods done, I was getting no traction at all. From 40mph I could easily break the tires loose and lose traction. I put on a set of Vredestein tires a week ago and put about 300 miles on them before I tried them out from a dig. All I can say is the tires really grip nice. I still loose traction from a stop, but not nearly what it was before, and I can't seem to get the tires to break loose at all above 25 mph.
I will be taking the car back to the track Friday night to see if the new tires help my 60ft time and overall 1/4 mile time.

It rained here early in the week and the tires really ran nicely in the rain too.

I've got a set and they're great. Low noise and also great in wet weather! Enjoy. Let us know how they hold up at the track.

Glad to hear it..am considering these for my next set of rear tires. Hard to justify expensive rear tires on these beasts considering how fast you go through them.

Exactly! There was a thread a few weeks back about what brand of tires to buy for the W211. Everyone running Vredesteins who chimed in on the post seemed to like them. There were a few others who had reservations about purchasing them because they believe the sidewalls are too weak for our heavy W211s. I, amongst others, disagreed completely.

I've had them for 750+ miles and they're not bad. It's too early to say I'd buy them again.

Don't ask them to corner like PS2's because they won't. They're a bit noisy but I can fix that with either volume knob (gas pedal or radio). PS2's are equally noisy. The Vred's track straight and don't tramline despite their directional tread. They do hold traction in the wet better than PS2's but since I'm not driving an Audi anymore I don't drive hard in the wet. They dry grip well but short of DR's nothing is gonna' get these cars out of the hole without spin.

They're a good alternative to $500 per tire. If I get 7k out of the rears, I'll be pleased (surprised).
