MB Buyback Vehicles
Just looked at an E63 buyback for a rough idle.
Is there a stigma out there about buybacks ? Obviously I can get a decent deal on one of these but I don't know much about the feeling towards these vehicles. I don't want to get in to something I can't sell again.
Thanks
Sometimes buybacks are good deals, sometimes they are nightmares. Personally, anything that has been a nightmare for someone else to be bought back by Mercedes is not something I'd want to touch.

But to that "one off" buyer who wants a cheap car for maybe a project, it might work.
Maryland does not brand the title or put stickers all over the door jambs, like other states.
Definitely a risk, but if you do your research and the car still has a ton of warranty, no reason to RUN FORREST RUN.

You have the issue with resale and thats something you wont ever get away from. Vic is right with that point.
Now if the car was bought back for one item you can pretty much bet the car is fine. I dont know but maybe my geographical location makes me pretty skeptical but 95% of the cars bought back here in Los Angeles are deals where certain "people" make up fake issues with cars to get new cars out of MB. Now these people always seem to do it right around the time the car needs tires or brakes or when their friends get new cars and they feel left out. My local region has the highest number of buy backs in the nation and MB knows 95% are just bs. Laws are there to protect the customer so MB ends up just eating the deals but this leaves a perfectly fine car with a branded title. I could tell you story after story after story of these absolute crooks who do these buy buck tricks. I know one guy who has had 4 MB's bought back in 5 years. Do you really think he had four lemons? I dont think so. He was just to cheap to keep them and take that massive loss. Now that MB stopped buying back his cars he has a 2005 and a 2004 car. Funny how the new car train stopped when MB got strict with the buy back rules!
So like the E500 stated above many buy backs are just fine. Its your call. If you have a warranty from the factory and can get an extended warranty I guess its semi safe.
That was the exact reason my car was boughtback by mbusa - tcu issues when they switched over to the 7 speed tranny. I was just sick of all the bs that went before getting it fixed.
In CA they brand the car with a Scarlet letter on it.
