Anyone ever solve this issue?
Mine is having the same problem and i brought it in before i had to travel. Left it with them for 10 days and came back to hear they couldnt figure it out. they have had it 2 subsequent days and i am about to go get my car regardless of whether it is fixed. I hate having sh-t not work but its a trunk and i am driving a c250 for 2 days now. not cool.

PS mine is boht opening and closing. sometimes it works perfect and others it just opens an inch and fails. it fails whether you use the key fob, the door panel switch, or the trunk handle. Id say its about a 60-70% fail rate. But when it decides to work it works perfectly so im guessing the motor is not the problem.

Power trunk, license plate lights and third break light
Mines just started having issues again, the close button doesn't illuminate, the licensed plate lights don't illuminate and the third brake light doesn't, I assume its a main harness and tore it apart today ( trunk lid and closing assembly) but haven't seen anything obvious yet, anyone have a typical spot I should be looking at ?

MBWorld Fanatic!
I had two bad wires - broken brown wire and almost broken striped wire (cannot remember which colors). Everything is fixed and working now.
I cut a section of the plastic cover (the one that covers the metal hinge) so as to reduce the chance of the wires getting pinched / severed again. I then covered the area with duct tape and then black electrical tape and wrapped the wires with electrical tape. The wires should not get pinched now
...
Tools to fix :
(1) Torx 20
(2) small screwedriver (to pry out the plastic fasteners)
(3) electrical supplies - wire, splicer, cutters, tape, solder setup or crimp, etc.
(4) duct tape (if you want to go the route I did)
(5) sharp scissors, knife, or grinder (if you want to cut the plastic hinge cover)
If you take your time, it will likely take you less than 1 hour to complete....
