some slow@$$diesels
split rear seats WAS an E55 option as well...just not in the US (this one doesn't have it either)
the interior is factory done...the red designo leather was done for a 5000 euro in addition (according to the datacard)...the black liner is factory done - even the mirror is covered in alcantara...miscelanious orion gray plastic parts were painted black by AMG (I wonder why there are still orion gray pieces in there though)
the black exterior color is also a designo color
if it wasn't for the red - it would be a cool car
greetingz,

While you might not normally see this stuff in the USA its very common in the EU to have very unique cars.
There are several different versions of the E55 in presidential edition format. They were for executives at MBUSA and they were equipped with everything possible for the most part.
As SteveNL said its all factory. Run the vin and look at the data card.

Mercedes,Porsche etc
actually the ALCANTARA which is available at most fabirc places,
if available in 2 blacks,
the original mercedes Black, which is CHARCOAL black
and the newer BLACK, which is more an INK black,
I have both sampled, as was going to redo some parts of the car with it,
but it is TOO BLACK the INK black,, the MERCEDES BLACK CHARCOAL looks better, as it matches the leather better, and lighter black plastic pieces..
if you were going to REDO the entire interior,, including all leather seats,
and plastic,, then the INK black with PIANO black pieces would looks stunning. but that would be alot of money..
that red leather, looks like something a PIMP in the 1970's would have in a caddy though,, whoa..

I took my car to a shop that does a lot of high end custom hot rods. He installed everything and dyed the hardware (dome lights, etc) black. He did an amazing job and it looks oem.

2006 E55
If thats true I need to find a salvage yard outside the US that can sell me the rear seats. I really HATE not having the fold down option. I would have never bought the car had I known that. My previous C32 had fold down seats and I guess I just overlooked that on the E55.

I know for sure that red was an OEM MB option back in 2002 or 2003, I dated a girl that owned an SLK (non-AMG) with that color red and black two-tone interior and her car was bone stock.

I know a guy that has an 05 SL65 with the same color and pattern interior, that did in fact come from the factory(we ordered it that way). It cost an additional $5000, and took 2 months extra for completion. I agree though that it looks a little out of place in a sedan.

2008 E63, White/Black, P030
My 08 E63 w P030 has factory carbon and his looks factory. Several months ago, I saw a 2004 E55 for sale in Ebay for $34,000, he had upgraded everything from the bumpers, to xenon lights, fenders etcc..to the current E63, all except the steering wheel, couldn't tell it was 55 from outside. Maybe he got or found a salvaged E63 and swaped everything in. I also saw some Sac's 5th Avenue Edition E class???
