Carbon front lip and diffuser install help plz >>><<<
apologies in advance, mod noob speaking...
Okays so I ordered a CF front lip and rear diffuser from these guys :
http://stores.ebay.com/Carbonpart-Su...of-Performance
from initial inquiries through to fast delivery they were top notch. to my (untrained) eye, the goods look the biz.
Took them to a local bodyworks shop (good one) and they refused to install saying the bits didnt fit properly and they were not preparred to start drilling holes in the Benz.
Im wondering, before I start what no doubt will be a long and time consuming drawn out return of these (large) bits of carbon from overseas, whether anyone has any tips of how you install these things so I can go to another shop or at least try and soft-install them myself to see if they fit. The front lip spoiler came with screws which dont look like they would hold much weight, and the diffuser came with a little tube of glue . I just want to rule out the possibility that the the shop I went into put it in the too hard basket and decided they didnt want to risk drilling holes in a benz (ie being pussies)
No instructions - I guess they dont provide instructions incase you *** it up and try and blame their instructions (which is why I went to a professional bodyworks).
Pics attached. Any help would be really appreciated. (btw I spent a fair bit of time searching the interweb and here for info before wasting your time) <3

from seeing the second link you posted, looks like you ordered the wrong diffuser. the one in the picture is for a w211 with a non AMG bumper. Even if the description say it, looking at the pictures is a dead give away.

that would be very disappointing if that was the case mate - I was very very cautious of describing the vehicle it was going on ie 2005 e55 amg w211 before I ordered it - re yes it will fit, yet it is the right bit etc. in fact I insisted on a pic of the diffuser installed which was provided :

Hmm
Last wkend I also had a chance to see and test a cf front lip from taiwan on the bumper of may car. The fit was not perfect, but it could be made to fit. Seem like one person makes these lips and distributes it various sellers.

Look at these pictures:
1. This is the picture of the item you bought on eBay. It is mounted on an E350 bumper, NOT an E55 bumper.
2. This is an E350 bumper for reference.
3. THIS is an E55 bumper. The contour of the bottom of it is clearly different than the E350.
Either way, you should demand your money back. Personally, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place but it is an easy thing for someone to miss. The fact that they advertise it for an E55 but they have pictures of it on an E350 is just stupid
Tell them either you want your money back or you want a front lip for a real E55.

I think he knows the differences in the bumper. He also made sure to tell them it is for a e55 amg.
Replica lips don't have a good fitment most of the time, but thay can be made to fit, it just depends of you want to go through the hassel of doing it.

i bought my front lip off of ebay
it wasnt perfect but better than i expected.
when installed looks perfect.
i didnt use their screws, I used my own.
put 8 or ten of them in the lip
holds extremely well!
install process took no longer than an hour.

thanks for replies. to clarify, I didnt actually buy the stuff off ebay - I saw they sold CF bits for Merc and emailed them with my car specs requesting if they could supply. I'll have a look at the front lip myself today and if need be, post pics of the actual bits.
Re the OEM diffuser - I am right in understanding that is just stuck on and you simply yank it off?

+1. don't forget to clear old tape cause or it won't hold well. I used alcohol to clean that thing off. Btw, I really liked how it looks without that rubber diffuser cover.

Well I had a look at the spoiler and diffuser over the weekend and they look like they will fit fine. made a half-arsed attempt to pull off the rear diffuser however it is on there very tight - feels like it needs a heat gun. there is a merc specialist down the road so I'll go and see them about it. tnx for the responses
