Took the plunge, new E55 owner!
I've been reading plenty of posts and doing quite a few searches and realized the first thing I should do is get an extended warranty, current one is up in 6mths. Sounds like Chrysler is a little suspect due to their current situation. Anyone have experience with Mercury? Do they pay promptly? How's they're coverage and claims handling? I was quoted 5yr 75k (total mileage) $2885/$100 deduc. with Electronics package.
If not Mercury, any other recommendations with contact?
Also, any Bellevue/Seattle people have recommendations on shops or SA's?
Thanks!
I've been considering the warranty as well, but that devil on my shoulder is telling me it would be better spent on some Works or Volks. I'll never learn!

You are well informed, and on the right track. So thank you for taking the time to look through the volumes here.
My aftermarket warranty company is CNA, only one claim so far and they paid, here is their info.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Yacht Master, was it a large claim? I just did a search for reviews and came across 3 where CNA wouldn't pay. I'm trying to find a reasonable priced warranty with a reasonably good chance that the claims will be paid and within a reasonable time. Like any other insurance you won't really know until you have a claim. I'll search more threads.

No, $975.00. Here is what happened I did not expect to get paid at all. CNA clearly states shock absorbers are not covered, but electronic supension is.

You only found 3 complaints? CNA has been in business a long time and should have thousands of complaints. Bottom line most people don't read the policy/service contract at the closing and the extended warranty is rolled in to the financing on the car so it is quite painless. In the mind of the buyer a warranty covers everything, and nothing could be further from the truth. When I shopped the warranty I found that CNAs warranty covered more than the MB extended warranty, and I could take the car to any MB dealer or independent of my choice. Now that was the biggest best platinum premium policy/contract with all the adders and the price came to $4890.00 that will take me to 78K miles or 2012, the dealer then discounted it to $2890.00. I fully understand your quest for a "reasonable price, reasonable coverage, reasonable time" but keep in mind, not one aspect of an AMG is reasonable the costs for parts alone are
and 80% of the techs that service them induce problems too, all on your dime.So read all the fine print in these contracts/warranties these companies come and go overnight (ala AIG)

I have seen good feedback with Mercury and Chrysler here at MBworld but Chrysler I would have reservations about at this point.

I have been out to RTC a couple times. Wold be good to get a couple MB's out there.
Have another buddy with a 2005 techtite but his is in Cali been rolling the g wagen for the winter when he gets it back up here we plan on organizing a mb meet as we both cam from the audi world which was pretty active.
Did you get that car from the cadi dealer in tacoma? They had one I looked at with simular milage and color.
I'm trying to figure out this car and what's normal noises.
Yacht, there's a ton of info on that blog, Thanks!
I understand most things aren't reasonably priced for this car, that's why I'm shopping the warranties.
Good to know there are a couple of us on here. And it looks like we have 3 silvers... what options do you guys have ?
I just ordered a lowering module, clear corners, and original mats. Mine came with the big mercedes winter rubber mats.
Also swapped the fogs and inner headlights for xeon match and put in 5w license plate bulbs that look white from hoen.
Cheers -- see you on the road.

What do those lights do and where can I get them? I can't wait to meet up with you guys. Seems like you guys are pretty well informed on these cars. I couldn't even find MB winter mats online. Let me know the next time you're going to RTC, I'll meet up with you.
Got the bulbs at www.hoen-usa.com I wanted LED's but did not want to mess with resistors etc. this made it easy and look pretty good. You can check mine out before buying.
As for wife and funds ... I have a secret squirrel account
