Took the plunge, new E55 owner!

I gave in! After a couple years of deliberations, the E55 won my affections. My new baby on the way also swayed my decision over coupes. 05, 26k, and silver. It's an incredible car. Having come from a Hard-top Supra TT 6sp and a 540i 6sp, this car is a well dressed beast.
I've been reading plenty of posts and doing quite a few searches and realized the first thing I should do is get an extended warranty, current one is up in 6mths. Sounds like Chrysler is a little suspect due to their current situation. Anyone have experience with Mercury? Do they pay promptly? How's they're coverage and claims handling? I was quoted 5yr 75k (total mileage) $2885/$100 deduc. with Electronics package.

If not Mercury, any other recommendations with contact?

Also, any Bellevue/Seattle people have recommendations on shops or SA's?

Thanks!

Nice! Also having recently come over from a highly modded import I can also say it's great having a nice luxury ride with some *****.

I've been considering the warranty as well, but that devil on my shoulder is telling me it would be better spent on some Works or Volks. I'll never learn!

Welcome!

I just bought my 05 e55 a couple of months ago. I've heard very good things about "The Mercedes Garage" in Bellevue. I'm about to use them for my first service since owning the car.

Thanks everyone. Reviews on the Mercedes Garage looks excellent. I've never seen all 5 star reviews for a mechanic. I'll probably start with the mods when the grin on my face goes away. Seems like that could be awhile.

No, Thank You!
"I've been reading plenty of posts and doing quite a few searches"
You are well informed, and on the right track. So thank you for taking the time to look through the volumes here.
My aftermarket warranty company is CNA, only one claim so far and they paid, here is their info.

CNA National Warranty Corporation
P.O. Box 2840
Scotsdale, AZ

Congrats on getting such a steal. I am amazed to see these cars go for 26k! I think the extended warranty would be a great buy...

It has 26k miles.
Yacht Master, was it a large claim? I just did a search for reviews and came across 3 where CNA wouldn't pay. I'm trying to find a reasonable priced warranty with a reasonably good chance that the claims will be paid and within a reasonable time. Like any other insurance you won't really know until you have a claim. I'll search more threads.

No, $975.00. Here is what happened I did not expect to get paid at all. CNA clearly states shock absorbers are not covered, but electronic supension is.
https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...there-any.html
You only found 3 complaints? CNA has been in business a long time and should have thousands of complaints. Bottom line most people don't read the policy/service contract at the closing and the extended warranty is rolled in to the financing on the car so it is quite painless. In the mind of the buyer a warranty covers everything, and nothing could be further from the truth. When I shopped the warranty I found that CNAs warranty covered more than the MB extended warranty, and I could take the car to any MB dealer or independent of my choice. Now that was the biggest best platinum premium policy/contract with all the adders and the price came to $4890.00 that will take me to 78K miles or 2012, the dealer then discounted it to $2890.00. I fully understand your quest for a "reasonable price, reasonable coverage, reasonable time" but keep in mind, not one aspect of an AMG is reasonable the costs for parts alone are and 80% of the techs that service them induce problems too, all on your dime.
So read all the fine print in these contracts/warranties these companies come and go overnight (ala AIG)

I have seen good feedback with Mercury and Chrysler here at MBworld but Chrysler I would have reservations about at this point.

Sneaky, that's the one. Any of you frequent the Northwest part of 6speed? Seems like an active group. Be good to get together and meet some of you. Anyone part of the MB club up here?
I'm trying to figure out this car and what's normal noises.
Yacht, there's a ton of info on that blog, Thanks!
I understand most things aren't reasonably priced for this car, that's why I'm shopping the warranties.

I frequent 6speed but more as a lurker. The RTC events are cool but I am usually the only mercedes.

Good to know there are a couple of us on here. And it looks like we have 3 silvers... what options do you guys have ?

I just ordered a lowering module, clear corners, and original mats. Mine came with the big mercedes winter rubber mats.

Also swapped the fogs and inner headlights for xeon match and put in 5w license plate bulbs that look white from hoen.

Cheers -- see you on the road.

Wow, you guys wasted no time jumping in. Not sure what options there are but it seems like a bare bones car. Are you guys married? Any tips on getting the wife to support the hobby? I have a baby due any day now so mods might have to wait.
What do those lights do and where can I get them? I can't wait to meet up with you guys. Seems like you guys are pretty well informed on these cars. I couldn't even find MB winter mats online. Let me know the next time you're going to RTC, I'll meet up with you.

I don't have bluetooth or ipod gonna get the mobridge. I do have dynamic seats, heated and cooled seats, rear sunshade, HID's.

Got the bulbs at www.hoen-usa.com I wanted LED's but did not want to mess with resistors etc. this made it easy and look pretty good. You can check mine out before buying.

As for wife and funds ... I have a secret squirrel account haha benefit of having work expenses. Small changes she does not notice.

We should 3 plan to go to RTC one saturday here. Be pretty cool havng 3 E55's roll in together. Show the beemer/audi boys up

I will check my winter mats for a part number the have the mercedes logo. Ebay is usually best bet.

Do they illuminate the road the same? Back in the day I tried some that were whiter but didn't illuminate as well. Someone on 6spd asked me about going on the 30th. You guys free?
I guess I need a squirrel account.

Regarding an aftermarket extended warranty, you might want to consider buying one from the MB dealer. I realize that the cost might be higher than what you could find on your own, but in my experience, the dealer handles all of the negotiations with the warranty company with whom they usually have a decent relationship. Often, the dealer will perform the work at a discounted rate for these warranties in exchange for earning commission on the policy sale. I'm not saying this is always going to be the best deal for you, but I've found value in not having to get stuck in the middle of claims negotiations between the warranty company and the shop - plus you'll have access to the dealer's shuttles, loaners, etc. Also, if the warranty company goes belly up, you might be able to lean on the dealer to honor all or part of it because they sold it to you.

Congratulations on the purchase and good luck!
