What should my first mod be!???
Hey guys, im new to the forum... Well, i bought a Black 03 E55 last week from an auction in GA. The car will be here on wed. So what should my first mod be!?
I am planning on doing wheels (probably matte black 20s), LET pulley and tune, exhaust (res and 2nd cat delete), etc...
Soooo, what would you do first???
Thanks

Honestly, I would take car of the cooling side of it. Pickup a larger H/E, CM30 pump and separate the circuit. This is something more than likely you'll end up doing so you IMO get it out of the way .
If pure performance is at mind a stage 1 kit will start you off nice (ecu and pulley).

Then stage 1 (ECU/PULLEY) or any other power mods.

I saw a few HE sitting at Eurocharged, I think they run 400-500 and the pump is 175....
Installation varies, but expect to pay $60 an hour and probably 5ish hours, you actually have to take off the front bumper to install the H/E.
You also need to buy a jug of Mercedes Coolant when they bleed the system... like $30

Depends if you're talking "go" or "show" mods.
One of the first things I did was euro bumper strips, great must have mod IMO. Also, rear E63 spoiler polishes off the rear end nicely. Both are relatively inexpensive and nice subtle touches.

A flush Mercedes hood emblem and 2007-2008 LED taillights. Those are going to be my first two mods(The emblem is on the way, but I'm still sourcing the taillights). I believe in "baby steps". I ended up with $15k dumped into my 06 sti within 8 months. I ended up getting tired of it and traded it is. I think take it slow is the most fulfilling way to mod a car. Congratulations on your purchase and enjoy your car in good health!

It's a rarely used first mod, but I am starting to think more and more headers should be the first mod. We've seen solid gains with headers alone. 30hp easy with nice set.
pulley and tune together next. With LET's prices, finally can be done under 2K. (pulley and tune that is)

When the day comes that I decide to mod it will be headers 1st followed by a trip to the track to shoot for mid to low 11's

WOW that seems insane to me i picked up a code 3 heat exchanger online, maybe used about a quart of coolant if that but 4 to 5 hrs is a bit on the long side i did this at my own shop with my tech and it took us no more then 1.5hrs if u add the pump in all this should'nt take more the 2 to 2.5hrs. Unless there was some other things being installed.

Search DIY jobs.. pretty straight forward.
Also get some filters and remove 2nd cats and add an X pipe.
If you have the money.. go for the tune and pulley with coolling mods.

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
You cannot build a strong house unless you have a solid foundation.
First off is to go through the entire car to ensure the required maintenance schedule has been followed. Spark plugs, filters, leaks, ic pump, etc. Add a HE.
Once you have confirmed all of this, then by all means jump over to the group buy section, drop $1400 and get a tune AND top quality pulley. 172 and 180 are offered.
