Although it's an obvious suggestion... coolant level sensor might be on it's way out...

sensor could be out of range and telling you that you need to top it off, when in reality there is no issue.

Check to make sure coolant is not mixing with tranny fluid. Don't want to frighten you but just make sure there is not a slow leak.

Correct... telling you to top up your coolant would be a result of the coolant level sensor reporting to the ECU that you are low on coolant... if you are saying you are not... it's possible the sensor is going bad... or it's as shardul said... you could be a little low on coolant because there is a leak or it's getting into your trans - a known problem on the '03/'04s

Just a little tidbit of information for you. The coolant level switch and washer fluid level switch are wired in series to the drivers front fuse box. The yellow/grey wire comes to the coolant switch from the fuse box. The brown wire on the coolant level switch goes directly to the washer tank, and the blue wire from the washer switch goes to the fuse box. I have seen on several occasions that the washer level switch has developed a small leak in the casing, corroding the connector, and not triggering a washer light, but a low coolant light. Good luck.

Nick

....... build date prior to 09/03 and Valeo radiators (for the coolant in trans issue)
