Very Disturbing!!!!
In the newest edition of Car and Driver, did anyone compare the E55 70-0 stopping in distance with that of the E320 in the same magazine? What the f***!!!!!!

I may be mistaken, but the E55 is purported to weigh several hundred pounds more than the E320. All the same, you think those big ole six pot calipers and drilled rotors should be a little more than show.

The SL55 weighs significantly more than the SL500, due to the modifications it had recieved to cope with the additional torque and power. The tranny was strangthened, the rear was strengthened, new brakes means more unsprung weight etc. So yeah, I wouldn't expect the AMG series to outperform the normal MB models in braking tests.

Not only was the braking distance longer, but it pulled less g's on the skidpad!!!

Im a little dissapointed by the braking results relative to the E320. I just emailed my dealer for a build date, I believe its april or may.

E55JAY, I see that you have #1 spot in PA. What were the numbers with EuroMotorCars and other local dealers for E55 spots?

The problem that I had with the local guys, ASC, Euro, HBL, etc.. is that they all said they had a "list" but did not want to reveal how long it was. "Give me a deposit, and i will see what we can do, I can make any promises because we have no information" This was the same story I heard from all of the local guys. I bought my last one out of town for this same reason, besides, Mercedes of West Chester is only 2 hrs away.

E55JAY, I also purchased my E55 out of town. The local dealers would not locate the car, nor discount it and tried to rob me on my trade-in. The out-of-town dealer discounted the car, gave more for the trade and delivered to my door for free. Good Luck.
