Slipping in 2nd and makes whistling sound when shifting to 2nd
Hey fella's
Just got a 04 E55 5 days ago and need to take it back to the dealer. Anyone have any idea what this could be? So bummed right now. Love the car and better not have to pay for this fix. No warranty on the car, but just got it and feel the dealer should take care of this problem.
Any idea's?
Thank
kerry

FYI, in NY and, I believe, a lot of other states, it is mandatory for every used car dealer to provide a short term (usually 1 month/3,000mi) warranty on every vehicle sold. Check the laws in your state, but even if the law doesn't apply, a reputable car dealer should work with you, especially if it was within 2 days of taking delivery of the car.

that happens sometimes there is no need to take it in to the dealer, but since you just bought it take it back, and make sure they pay for it. But all you need to do is reset the ecu, if you search the forums you can find posts on how to do this simple reset it will definitely fix ur problem.

now if the car revs up and you are going now where, that would be a slipping issue.

It's probably the s/c clutch mine was doing the same thing, a chirp/whistle sound when going into 2nd with my foot into it. MB told me there was a bulletin or something about the noise. That's why i had that loaner when i came by.

engine jerk is not slipping.. just SC engaging.
if you upgrade pulley.. you will feel even bigger jolts.
Start by changing the belt and if the its still very loud.. then do the idler pulley. Since you are new.. search for the write ups.
Don't worry.. your car is fine.. don't need to switch to the new pulley if you don't have warranty.
BTW: I have the new pulley since I got it replaced by the dealer.. and i still have the chirp, but not as jerky as the original one.

Agree with the guys above. Supercharger engage can be quite rough and not what people are expecting when in a Mercedes.
You should try it with a few mods, you can feel your organs moving around.

Thanks guys, for all your reply's. I will be taking the car back to have them look at it. This gives me something to show the dealer. It was not a Benz dealership, So I hope they will take care of it for me...
