Emblem cleaning??

Maybe someone has some advice for me.

Right where the V8KOMPRESSOR emblem sits on the fender, the paint between/inside the letters is dirty and doesn't come clean when i wash the car.

I was thinking of using QTips with some type of cleaner on them, but want to make sure i don't damage the paint.

Any suggestions?

Debadge the car and that'll solve it

That's the first thing I did to mine. More stealth, too.

Why? I think it looks cleaner. I'm not trying to prove anything with the car, I know what it is. Most people on the road either know what it is with or w/o a badge, or otherwise couldn't care less. And around here (LA) there are so many better cars anyway, so what's the point?

My sig shows it before debadging. I'll post a pic without badges; looks clean, imho.

Interesting that people will debadge a lesser car but not debadge a better car(?) What's that mean?

btw, it seems to be popular to debadge AMG wagons.

I use a soft bristled brush with soapy water to clean those areas.

Me too on the soft bristled brush and cleaner. Mine were quite dirty and I think I mixed in a little purple stuff with the soap and water.

I like the look of the factory AMG badges. Also gives me a little conversation piece with people both familiar and not so familiar with it. I live in Portland OR, there doesn't even seem to be that many AMG cars floating around. A few here and there, maybe see a couple a month.

Portland has gone "green" or so they call it. Most of the cars around here are made by Volvo, Subaru, or some kind of Hybrid.

I understand where you're coming from. It's good that people get interested in your car. And I agree, the emblems aren't bad looking. I guess it's just that around here there are just so many of them and everybody seems pretty jaded. There's always a better car next to you.

I'm just trying to be anonymous, like I'm driving a regular E Class (there are millions of those here); maybe the cops will think so, too.

So you're posing as an E350.

All kidding aside, I understand.

AMG's aren't common enough around here and I don't seem to attract much police attention. The cops are out busting boosted WRX's (probably the most common "performance" car here, they are everywhere) Evo's and people trying to haul pot up the 5.

Ya, there's already a thread about me in the W211 forums about being a poser.

On another note, I finally past the mark tonight and can take this thing out of Grampa C mode and start driving it properly

Although I was getting 17 mpg which was kinda cool.

Q-Tips with a mild cleaning solution or just buy those detailing wipes that are available at most larger auto parts stores.

As Mr. Burns would say, "Excellent....."

Now drive that thing like it was meant to be driven.

Edit: You're on the 1, Highway 101 that is.
