I agree, msrp 138k in late 2007 and probably bought for low 80's today... the higher they start, the harder they fall. But then what car is holding strong lately? Just enjoy it- I have a trifecta of depreciating beasts (well I got the GT-R for a smoking deal so I can get out of it right now with a minimal loss) and I have no issues with their declining value since the pleasure of driving them is greater than the loss for ME!

Congrats on the purchase though- the BS is in a small list of cars that would drag me back to Benz.

I also test drove a CLK63 black series over the weekend but not because I'd consider trading my E55 for one, but because the car intrigued me. The test drive reaffirmed my statements in your initial post that I just can't quite understand how someone can compare the two cars. They are incredibly different in just about EVERY respect... the only similarities being the freaking MB emblem and the good ol' COMAND unit. The CLK is a totally different animal and a fantastic car, but nothing like the E55k.

I won't go into my "review" of the CLK here, but my impressions lead me to the obvious conclusion that it should be cross shopped with the GT3, Z06, and Viper. Cars like the GTR and M6 also deserve mention as considerations but the CLK is a LOT more hardcore than they are.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.
