Has anyone run across a pre-owned, decently priced GT-R?
How about auctions? Can someone run a list of them?
The itch is starting...

Ok as for the GT-R the orig 2009 msrp ones are all but gone (came out in late summer). They were msrp'ing around 77k. The second wave of msrp 2009's were at 80770 or 83770 with the super silver. You can still find some of those if you are lucky and the dealers should move those at prices around 2k under msrp. Now most stores have the 2010 models which came out in mid March, they msrp for 84k. I have seen two deals come by my desk last week with invoices in the mid 70's and the cash prices over 82k and both were 2009's. This means people are still paying at msrp or slightly over but the days of 10k and 15k over sticker are long gone.
FYI- great car.

Great info, thanks.
How about the pre-owned? Anyone starting to turnover their cars yet?

Get your BS and come see me I dont see the BS's going to that number for a while. They are still selling in the low 80's and as demand picks up with the price drop- the prices will flatten.

Pre owned will go for less, high 60's since everyone is afraid of how the car was driven before them. Most auctions are seeing them at 69k so that means a retailer could possibly ask low 70's for a low miler pre own. If you know the history of the car or the driver, grab a preowned.

Shoddy engineering and/or workmanship causing driveline failures when driven hard, Nissan's refusal to stand behind their product, typical boy racer fans, etc.
Then there's the Nissan dealership experience... let's just say that I was GT-R shopping before I bought my Black Series and their sales staff was probably the #1 reason I didn't end up with a GT-R today. They wanted more than sticker after the market cooled, wouldn't back down, and wouldn't even return my calls. Honestly I should have expected that from a Nissan dealer.

Marcus that was a "stage 2" whatever that is (no definition but probably downpipes and a Cobb tune) but mine is much more than that with the HKS GT570. Lets not forget the GT-R is also a track car, a damn good one for those of you who like that sort of thing

I actually bought my GT-R because of the experience. The GM handled my test drive and pricing. The Benz discussion with the Black Series at my local dealer back in Sept of 2007 was not so fruitful. I love the BS and that, more than likely, will be my next Benz. There is a white one Im eyeing.

Nobody likes it because its actually pretty good It does everything good and some things great. I dont care about the nameplate- as long as its a peformer and had modability that was MY reasoning.

I know which white one you are looking at... I know about it too... but I just don't think the CLK63BS would really fit my needs. I would take a CLK63BS over an M6 . The M6 has a bit of an identity crisis when compared to the CLK... it's a BMW and wants to handle well... but it's a heavy luxury coupe so it handles pretty well... but not amazingly. The BS is much more sure about what it's supposed to be doing, and although it still maintains a number of luxury features and is a bit heavy... the car just feels awesome.

The tranny failures are more glorified than anything. Anybody who brutally launches their car over and over is going to push the car into failure. I have the new software that allows me to launch it over and over. I have never needed to do it- the car at mash and go is faster than any other car Ive had from a dig (E55 stage 4, modded CL65, and a 997TT modded Tip). This was when it was stock

I seriously doubt that I would have ever had the failure based on my driving style (I don't launch hard 95% of the time) but the reports that they were not covered under warranty would make me nervous and less likely to enjoy the car. That didn't keep me from wanted the car though, it was just my local dealer. If the experience would have been better I would be driving a GT-R now, but I doubt I'll ever buy a Nissan after that mess.
I totally understand. These purchases are not cheap and the lack of service clearly can be a deal killer.
You know I am the same way Vic... I went from an SL600 to a Z06 "just because". I've had Toyota, Mitsu, Dodge, Nissan, etc. It's all about what fits my taste and tickles my fancy.

I would think stock vs stock (owing both) that the GT-R would take the early lead depending on the starting mph and then as the cars neared 120 the E55 would pull out ahead. The stock GT-R has some plateau'ing (is that a word?) effects up top. It needs to breathe more and better. Simple down pipe, mid pipe, and exhaust mods can do such things.
I drove my stock car in auto mode almost religiously. I could not get used to the paddle shifters not moving with the wheel. They are mounted to the steering column and I was too used to my M6. Auto mode is a killer from a dig or down low (in a good way) but is not optimal from a roll or higher speeds since the tranny has to sequentially go thru the gears. But the shifts are faster than S6 mode in my M6. They are incredible!!

Yeah opening up the exhaust & intake on turbocharged cars gains serious power, throw in a nice boost controller & up the boost a little & i'm sure the gt-r is a beast. A nice dual 3" turbo back exhaust would be sweet.

Got a chance to drive my buddy GT-R last month. It's very impressive...(speechless)..the car handle pretty well per say..But I don't know if I ever going to own one yet...Don't remember paying over $70k for some Japanese vehicle though. But it a very nice car....
