Mercedes Tech foreman won't do Star 10* ???

As some know from my other thread on power loss, I brought my car in for this and other issues.

Just got off phone with my SA and he tells me their foreman doesn't want to change factory set parameters which includes the Star 10* because he thinks that's where Mercedes wants it.

Has anyone else here had that problem?

This is not a mod friendly dealer (and not because I've been a bad customer ... I've spent gobs of money there. Bought this car cash from them.)

They're replacing a seat cushion, replacing head rest guides, updated COMMAND softeware, put in a new IC Pump, new seat control unit, new idler pulley ...

But no Star 10 , but the SA says when I come in maybe I can convince him it's ok to do.

I've already explained to him it's the solution everyone with these cars does in tandem with other things.

Has anyone else been turned down for this simple mod?

I can understand a dealership saying no to change factory set parameters, especially if they are not mod friendly.

I know it is not a big thing you are changing but the dealership just want to play safe.

Mb sugar land told me my sbc pump was humming because of the oil catch can I installed.
They really think we are stupid btw they replaced the sbc pump for me.

I'm going to just accept it for now ... I'm not going to race this car so it's not a huge problem for me.

But if I get it again ... I'm going to tell them ... SEE , Maybe you should have done the Star 10* like I asked !

An independent service shop with a Star system can also do the 10C fan mod for you.

this feature exists for a reason. the 10c setting is for cars running the the warmest climates like the UAE. It helps a bit with keeping the fans on more often but its not going to make the car perform any better really. Maybe a bit more consistent in traffic etc.

Just tell him it makes the aux fan turn on earlier so the engine stays cooler. Why on earth is that a bad idea?

Why bother with a bull headed german style foreman. Just give a tech 20 bucks and have him click the little box. It takes about 2 seconds once the car is loaded up with DAS.

Sorry, this is a little off topic, but for some reason, this feature/menu can NOT be accessed on 63 models? Do you know if it's been moved to a different menu or maybe even disabled? I live in very hot climate and would like to help make the car run a little cooler.

That's what I told him ... Heck I even went so far as to BS him and tell him a Mercedes AMG Tech told me it was the best way to eliminate heat soak along with the new pump.

Tell him if you find someone else that will do it, you'll likely go to the new place for all of your future service needs. You're not asking for much. They have poor PR skills.

All these dealer techs do work on the side, cause' the dealers won't pay them what they deserve. You just have to get buddy-buddy with them. A mortons gift card did the trick for me awhile back.

I'm North of Milwaukee

If it aint a Ford or a tractor ... they don't know shinola about what to do with it.

I have to drive an hour south to get denied the service I requested.

(Ok ... I embellish. It's not really that bad. )

Its still possible to change. Its been a while since I done but I believe its in the climate control unit. However they changed the numbers. Can't do 10* deg incriments anymore. I believe its 20*, 40* setting on the newer cars.
