First highway sighting of ugly a$$ed W212...it isn't lookin' good boys
Well...I was driving my SUV on I-95 the other day, and had the stomach-turning experience of sighting my first one. I was flabbergasted. Taken out of the controlled environment of the showroom with the special lighting, etc., this thing is really ugly as $h!t. Worst looking car to come out of the last few years, IMO.
Now I think they look worse on the road than they do in pictures.

The W212 front looks not bad, just the rear.... the tail light is just Sonata.
I guess I just love too much W211 thats why I got E500 then E55.....

What a boring and terrible looking car. What happened Mercedes? The front is glaringly ugly, looks out of place and poorly done.
The E-Class coupe is ugly too.

as long the gas price dont go over $6 per gallon.....
I think ultimately those of us who are Mercedes-Benz customers, and the public in general, will best express opinions through the purchasing power by choosing to buy or not buy the W212 E-class when the car is available for purchase.
BMW learned a hard lesson and made the E65/66 7-series into a mild success when it gave the car a redesign that better camouflaged the Bangle-ness of its design. Similarly, if the W212 alienates MB customers, then surely they will respond because it hurts then where it matters: its P&L.
I am admittedly one of the few who seems to have found some acceptance of this new design direction and would actually consider it when the time comes to replace my current W211; but I am also admittedly in the minority it seems.
The market forces will ultimately determine the success or failure of the W212.
It's a total Hyundai/Acura rip-off. Totally un-original, and totally Japanese.
It's hideous and I hope they re-design it quickly. Sales will probably suck if they don't.

I think we all know where that styling comes from.
