Not sure why this keeps coming up. AMG badge = Engine. No engine, no badge.
Period.

It didn't. AMG package on a CLK430 would have been body modifications only. Therefore it would NOT have come from the factory with an AMG badge. Dealer could have added it. Buyer could have added it. Factory DID NOT add it.

I bought my first MB in 1999. It was a CLK430 silver/grey from Crown. It had no AMG badge on it and I watched it roll off the transporter. But I went to the parts department and bought one after signing the papers and then put it on before I left the dealership! LOL Flame on!

I have to agree with the No badge No engine. If someone can show me a pic of a clk 430 rolling off the assembly line with an AMG badge I'd believe it. However, I think we all know this will never happen.

what about an s550 with an amg badge on the right rear? simply a sports package right? no dual exhausts.....just one on each rear side.

This is a funny thread to sit back and read!
some of the people called out and photographed are probably serious wanna-bees and no harm in calling them out in a good natured way (especially if its a co-worker or somebody you know, then no prob giving them some a hard time).
but many of these posts make the posters look like the insecure ones. bordering on road rage being confrontational with complete strangers who may not even have put the "offending badge or badges" on their car.....Then they brag about the "poser" running from them as they chase them taking photos. Did you ever think that people are "running" from you because they think you are fricking crazy??? or are a road raging stalker??
MB AMG cars are beautiful machines, but all this talk some posters put on about owning an AMG car denoting that the owner is some sort of special breed of person is pretty silly stuff. Putting a "fake" AMG badge on a car does not rise to the level of somebody who pretends to be a Medal of Honor winner or pretends to be a prior special operations soldier (there are plenty of those). Having an AMG car says nothing about the owner, other than the fact that they have good taste in automobiles, and either they or their family is financially well off enough to afford the cars. period.
the website for one of my other cars (mr2oc.com) lists the users AGE next to his or her user name (sure I know it's optional, and people can enter whatever age they like). this would be interesting in this forum. I would bet that many of the posters who get SO bent out of shape about POSERS ("the ultimate crime") are probably very young and had their AMG's given to them by mom and dad (or are trust fund babies and never had to work a day in their life).
sure would be interesting to see, though.......
and yes both of my Mercedes are real AMG's, and no I don't think the fact that I own them makes me a "special" person. I have earned my self-esteem in real ways over many years, not because I drive a nicer car than my neighbor.......
just adding my .02

The 2009 CLK350 or CLK550 came in an AMG Edition in Canada as one of the model run-out vehicles.
It came with an AMG badge on it. This car was not an AMG & did not have the engine.
This is the only car ever produced for Canada that did not have the engine, but did have the badge on it from factory.

A Prius because I'm green
Would anyone call out Stiflers mom if she had an AMG badge on her CL or would she get a pass? I may have to excuse that cougar but that's just me!

You would have to sit there forever waiting for the guy/gal to come out and get in the vehicle. The fact that he parked this vehicle at a event where most (more than half ?) attendees would realize his/her vehicle and just..........is enough for me.

lol, hes probably a POG soldier or airman. you can tell, silver window tint, amg badge, but stock everything. I guarantee hes stationed at schofield or wheeler.
for some reason i really have no problem with AMG badges, not like im gonna chase him down and tell him to take it off lol.

Classic. This is just plain funny to me. I get a kick out of those who put BMW, MB, Audi, etc... badges on any 5 year old plus import. Nothing to comfort them about. We all know they do it for fun.
