Ok, I don't know what to call this. Thought I put it in this thread. It's a "CLS 300". The man driving this was at least 70, there is no way he did this intentionally. I reallllly want to know how this happened though. Might need to magnify the picture.

Ive seen one of these before, have the picture on my phone... Mercedes puts that badge on there because its the AMG package. The whole interior is AMG stuff so I guess its an AMG just minus the performance of course.

Nope. Read the whole thread. No engine, no badge. Mercedes did NOT put the badge on. The dealer might have, but not from the factory.

I still dispute this fact as there are just too many CLK430s running around. I do agree with 220S that this wasn't condoned by MBUSA. However i have no doubt in my mind that regional dealers (multiple dealers owned by the same single owner) were actively doing this! The previous owner of my E55 owned a CLK430 Coupe brand new from the dealer and it came with a AMG badge right off the MB of Miami's lot without him asking for it.

Alot of posers don't know they're posers though, you see some girl in high school driving an CLK Cabrio she bought from a dealer who stuck the badge on and told her it was "the good model", she doesn't know anything about AMG and wouldn't even think about debadging the car or modding it. Hell I've seen Mercedes dealers put AMG badges on the high end models like the S550s and what not, yes MERCEDES-BENZ dealer. Nobody really cares about posing. I don't even think that's posing. Posing is when you see an old POS C class, CLK or SLK with "SLR65 AMG Black Series" with "V8 Kompressor" on the side at the same time. Now that's posing and you know the owner did it.

I used to work at a Mercedes dealer and CLK's would come in straight off the truck from the port with AMG badges. I can't confirm if the guys at the port or if Mercedes were putting the badges on but it wasn't necessarily the dealers themselves.

No way that was factory!!! I'll guarantee it was either a DIA (dealer installed accessory) or a port installed one. For some reason though, AMG wheels seem to be the exception to the rule and I've seen them on the GL series from the factory on the GL550 and the G (non-AMG) trucks as well.
