Motor Trend 2010 E63 Review.....

The new styling is not my cup of tea but it sounds like its the best driving E-AMG to date. I'm still holding out hope MB will make a AMG version of the coupe.

Hmmmmm....the styling is REALLY growing on me. That car looks beautiful imo. It's too bad the engine went downhill from the e55's. Now BMW is releasing a TT m3 and TT m5....not good.

I can see styling cues from the S class in the rear section of the car too. Beautiful!

Styling is growing on me as well.
I was at the MBLN earlier today and I must say I like the new 212.
It needs a nice rear spoiler to bring it's *** up, but other than that it has that edge that makes you do a double take.

I know the newer transmissions with 7 speeds have been discussed as many owners don't care for them, but the new MCT trans sounds very desirable with the ability to shift on command and blip the throttle.

I agree, when I first saw the new 212, it was rather boring. They were off loading about 8 of them when I was in for service. After looking at them, they didn't look quite as bad up close. The dealer asked if I wanted to drive an E550 and I had time on my hands so I said why not.
The car drives really well. He(dealer) had me take a rather spirited test drive and I have to say that I got a couple of thumbs up from other E class drivers and it handled quite well. Now, I've only seen pics of the new AMG version, but based on their previous models, it should be one hot car especially in black/black.
Remember, when the 7 series BMW came out, everyone thought it was ugly as h#$ and that no one would buy it. Well, it turned out that it was the most succesfull 7 series yet. Yes it went through a mild restyle, but the point is that it sold much better than the old ones and Mr Bangle had a hit on his hands.
I'm sure IMO that the new E Class will do just fine in the sales arena.

At this point I would consider the exterior styling just "OK." Same with the interior styling. I would also consider the engine a huge disappointment and no where near good (powerful) enough.
I once again (this past weekend) witnessed a bone stock E55 pull on a bone stock (& broken in) E63 in 3 highway roll-ons in a row! While I agree that there is more to a car than power, I would certainly hope for a decent power increase over the years!

I like the overall design except for the rear-end.... but in time, I'm sure we'll all grow to like it. I just wish they introduced the twin turbo version earlier rather than making us wait an additional 2 years
