TPMS Question

I saw it asked in another thread, but I don't believe it was answered:

If you don't have TPMS sensors on your wheels, is a warning light displayed on the dash?

If your car thinks you're supposed to have them then yes.

Dang it, I suppose it was wishful thinking to hope that wasn't the case. I really want some 19" p30 SL65 wheels. Those cost plenty, without adding extra expense for TPMS.

Thanks.

If you have TPM sensors right now then you should be able to swap them on to the new wheels. If you don't currently have TPM sensors, then you will not get an error code.

TPMS add

My car has TPMS in the system (it shows up in the display), but I dont have the sensors. Can I simply add the sensors to the wheels and it will detect them? If I can, should I stick with OEM only or could I go with one of the aftermarket sets?

few things about tpms
- if you have tpms and you get wheels without it, the light will come on
- you can have it coded out with Star. i have this done on my car
- i do not recommend swapping tpms sensors because they can easily get slightly damaged and leak air slowly. this is pretty common
