Bigger pulley and too high IAT....
i`ve changed crank pulley from 178mm to 190mm.(and other small ones together)
i was nervous about the iat, so did the bigger HE and pump(cm90) and install a supplementary HE behind the oil-cooler(in passengers`s side)-welded together.
pump and oil-cooler fan is always on.
my data logger shows these...
MAP(bosst) : 230KPA(max)
IAT : ambient 25'c , 87'c after one roll from 0 to 240 (WOT)
IAT is back to 30'c~35'c very quickly...but with WOT, IAT shoots too high..
i am not sure there is real gains in HP....
low end torque VS high end hp...
how do you think about my situation?
would it be better to go back 178mm pulley?

190MM? Who made it for you? I think that's the biggest pulley I've seen/heard of...
I say go back to the 178 or even a 180. I have a 180 with supplementary cooling mods and the car runs great!

just realize that you will be slower on the take off but you will be fast as hell on the top end. it does have its give and takes with going bigger. are you pullies "damperner" pullies that wont spin your water pump so fast? most ppl are going to 182 and bigger so you are right were you need to be. hey, let me know if your going to sell your 178 pulley kit cause i do have a friend looking for a kit please. thank you

Forgive this potentially silly question, but doesn't IAT stand for Intake Air Temperature? Where is this measured at?
I know the bigger pulleys make more boost and more heat, but does that heat affect the intake tract? Just by the name, I would assume IATemps would be more determined by incoming intake air.

i think you are loosing power when the IAT are at 87 C or 188 F. From what I know after 140 F the timing is pulled back by 9 degrees each degree of timing being pulled represents 7-9 hp loss.

I think most people are running 180 mm and smaller..... but who knows, as more time goes by, people are squeezing more and more power out of the 55k engine. Eventually, the stock intercooler just won't cut it

thanks for replys^^
i didn't mention about somethings..
my 55k has larger cooler under S/C (from MKB) and it did its work great when 178mm pulley.
(cooler is larger than stock, smaller than CLK-DTM, and has by-pass)
my 190mm pulley is from Deutschland, "Techtec", also ecu.
i`ve chaged injecter to larger ones.
it may be wierd to you guys....190mm pulley generates too much boost(1.4 bar), so put a wastegate from y-pipe(below the IAT sensor) that limits the boost at 1.2 bar.(but i am not sure it actually limit 1.2 bar now.)
i know turbo charger and S/C is different, but bigger pulley makes a higher boost at lower rpm. so i choose bigger one and put a wastegate.^^
after some more test, i`ll adjust the wastegate or take it away.
with 178mm, my 55k reaches 300km/h in 38 sec..(i think fast)
i didn`t test 190mm...
if 190mm is slower to 300, it is garbage.(maybe faster to 200...)
anyway.....my IAT is too high and !! my headache....

Most here would likely concur. Fooling or piggybacking the ECU’s sensors can prompt a costly invitation to purchase a new long-block. They’re there to help ensure reasonable engine life. Properly controlling supercharger IATs has invariably proven beneficial to fully exploit our designed-in performance. Maintaining less than 140F minimizes intervention.

sorry for offtopic, but I went to techtec.de and found that
Mercedes TV-DVD E- class W211 Model 2005 Activation via OBD
Wtf is that? I had never heard that you can activate playing dvd by just software, is it euro-nav?

you can activate it by going to engineering mode & then to driver distraction.
no need for any devices to plug them in the car.

high IAT and timing pulled.
at what temperature the timing is getting pulled?
if it is 60'c , then 178mm is already above that.
with 178mm, iat gets 70~75'c usually at WOT.
PS : where the IAT comes from? the spinning charger`s heat? or the compressed air?
