Keyless go problem

hey guys,

The keyless go start/stop button works fine. However, all the sudden the car doesnt unlock when I pull the handle, or when I push the button on the door handle. As well, when exiting the car, it will not lock from the drivers door, but will lock when I hit the button on the rear passenger door.

Any thoughts?

Try putting a fresh battery in the key. Also make sure your cell phone is nowhere near you to make sure it isn't interfering. And of course make sure you only have one key on the scene...

I've had the same symptoms but they resolved with new batteries as I recall.

I had this problem - it was a sensor in the door handle that needed to be replaced.

My SA said the same thing. You have to order a pre-programmed replacement. Sounded like a common failure.

For me, it ended up being just a bad connection, but they put the new door handle in anyway.

Do you recall what the cost of that was? Just deciding whether its worth repairing.

that happened to me...the next few times you drive the car insert the key in the slot and dont use the keyless, this will in a sense recharge your key, and it should work fine, if it still is giving you trouble go get a new battery I think they are $10.

the SA is going to tell you it is in need of new door handle, to make the stealership some more money, this happened to me with both of my E55s and a simple battery replace will do the trick more than likely.

I will try the battery replace today. I just put batteries in a month or so ago, but maybe they were bad. Thanks for the info. Keep you guys posted.

your handles are bad.

Obviously the way to check this is to see if the other doors work? In my case they keyless entery works with every other door except the driver's door. My car is at Fletcher Jones as we speak getting a new driver's side door handle. Oh, and that leaky valve cover issue that people have discussed? Yup, it caught up with me finally and they are replacing that too under warranty. I am 42k miles in my '06 FYI.

I just want to echo Skeeter's comments.

If you happen to have two E class sedans with Keyless Go as we do, they keys will interfere with one another and the doors may not open or lock.

Keyless works on all other doors other than the driver door. Must be the handle.

A bad handle isn't covered under warranty?

I had a leaking intake manifold gasket replaced. The tech said it was very common. if that is what you mean with the gasket question. That service I also had both fuel pumps replaced due to loss of pressure during acceleration. I hope that this does get me in trouble(for changing the forum) for it was the next phase of tracing the gasket.
