BMW M6 takes on SL65 AMG and E55 AMG -- VIDEOS
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
This is the M6 I'll be matching up with in Mexico. In this video he's racing the 996TT I raced a couple of weeks ago. The 996TT had 1.5-2 car lengths up to 150 mph. When I raced the 996TT I pulled somewhere between 4-5 lengths from 60-170, from what he described. He also mentioned that at the high speeds he wasn't gaining any ground on my E.
This same 996 raced against my buddies stock E55 from 60-150 and got him by a couple of car lengths. Either way it's going to be fun playing with a slightly modded 996TT, stock E55, and a modded M6. I'll make sure to get a lot of video.

J's M6 has trapped 121mph. It is faster than a stock E55, period. There isn't any question of wrong gears, or whatever. That stock E55 traps max 116-117mph. The M6 is faster, and once you get above 100 it can take full advantage of those 7 gears. The M6 deserves respect.

Once again nice videos and my questions are not intended to disrespect but more of a feel of what to expect with the upcoming race.
BTW...you should post your 121 mph trap on dragtimes because it would be the fastest on that site. modded and no mods.

No disrespect taken, bassn, but this race was legit. FYI, I think the E55 and the SL65 are great cars and I have a great deal of respect for them. It seems as though your car is running VERY strong! Kudos to you on that
Here is a video of my car trapping 120.96mph.

I'm fairly certain I have a slip of a faster trap as well. I will try and find it. For full disclosure, I have changed the filters to BMC's and added RPI scoops, which, for those of you who don't know are little pieces of metal that are supposed to direct more air into the intakes. I'm not denying that they work to some extent (although I think we are talking about ~5whp at speed) but if one wants to argue that my car is not 100% stock then I give them that. This did not make the difference in the race though as I had a similar result before the scoops and filters were installed.
One other thing to remember is that the M5/M6 are not easy to launch and there is a big difference from one driver to the next. I'm not claiming to be an expert, but I have driven my car over 20,000 miles in about a year and a half and logged countless trips to the drag strip and a road course. I raced an M6 from a dig a few weeks back and pulled him by 3+/- car lengths to 140. Point being, he didn't know how to properly drive his car. This car is not a mash and go type on roll-ons either.
Just some food for thought. Thanks again for the comments & questions!

? Asking questions in regards to the run is considered discounting? He was trapping unusually high numbers for his M6 and it was just brought up. After he posted his video of his run he was given his props with no disrespect....
.
But hey, maybe it's just a factory freak. It happens.
The R/T in the video (the drag race) was good for both cars with the 55 getting a very slight jump at the light. You can see the E55 increase the distance. 12.2 @ 121 vs 11.86 @120.
So what does this say?? If you race an M5 or M6 make cetain it is NOT FROM A ROLL especially from 55plus
The gearing in the stock 55 is all wrong for this type of race.
You see there is a good chance a STOCK 55 could beat any M6 in a 1/4 mile race, but the odds reverse rapidly once the BMW is above 70 mph.
Very cool video , and yeah that is one very fast M6
