BMW M6 takes on SL65 AMG and E55 AMG -- VIDEOS

55s will always pull from a dig because they have a lot more tq and make it much lower down. They also have more hp down low. This really helps from a standstill.

Is there a chance that the E started off in the wrong gear? This same thing happened a while back when MJ50 raced a 335. He lost his first race due to starting off in the wrong gear and after the rematch and starting off in the right gear he pulled the 335. At least I think this is what happened and I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will correct me.
This is the M6 I'll be matching up with in Mexico. In this video he's racing the 996TT I raced a couple of weeks ago. The 996TT had 1.5-2 car lengths up to 150 mph. When I raced the 996TT I pulled somewhere between 4-5 lengths from 60-170, from what he described. He also mentioned that at the high speeds he wasn't gaining any ground on my E.
This same 996 raced against my buddies stock E55 from 60-150 and got him by a couple of car lengths. Either way it's going to be fun playing with a slightly modded 996TT, stock E55, and a modded M6. I'll make sure to get a lot of video.

I've held back posting as long as I could. That SL65 looked sexy didn't it? I was actually surprised at the outcome as the 65 has been acting up a bit lately (low on power), but that's a whole different discussion.
J's M6 has trapped 121mph. It is faster than a stock E55, period. There isn't any question of wrong gears, or whatever. That stock E55 traps max 116-117mph. The M6 is faster, and once you get above 100 it can take full advantage of those 7 gears. The M6 deserves respect.

No disrespect intended, the M6 is a beautiful car with speed and style. You say his M6 traps 121, is this stock? From what I've seen stock the M6 doesn't trap 121 mph. Here's the link to dragtimes with a list of M6 cars, take it that I'm sure many don't post on dragtimes.com.
Once again nice videos and my questions are not intended to disrespect but more of a feel of what to expect with the upcoming race.
BTW...you should post your 121 mph trap on dragtimes because it would be the fastest on that site. modded and no mods.

No disrespect taken, bassn, but this race was legit. FYI, I think the E55 and the SL65 are great cars and I have a great deal of respect for them. It seems as though your car is running VERY strong! Kudos to you on that

Here is a video of my car trapping 120.96mph.

I'm fairly certain I have a slip of a faster trap as well. I will try and find it. For full disclosure, I have changed the filters to BMC's and added RPI scoops, which, for those of you who don't know are little pieces of metal that are supposed to direct more air into the intakes. I'm not denying that they work to some extent (although I think we are talking about ~5whp at speed) but if one wants to argue that my car is not 100% stock then I give them that. This did not make the difference in the race though as I had a similar result before the scoops and filters were installed.
One other thing to remember is that the M5/M6 are not easy to launch and there is a big difference from one driver to the next. I'm not claiming to be an expert, but I have driven my car over 20,000 miles in about a year and a half and logged countless trips to the drag strip and a road course. I raced an M6 from a dig a few weeks back and pulled him by 3+/- car lengths to 140. Point being, he didn't know how to properly drive his car. This car is not a mash and go type on roll-ons either.
Just some food for thought. Thanks again for the comments & questions!

To answer your question in sentence two, YES! ![action](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/action1.gif)

I'm a little confused as to why people are discounting the m6 beating the e55. It's a faster car on paper, on video, and pricewise. Nice races- good vids

Well, everyone that is doubting that the e55 was in the correct gear, heat soaked, running correctly, etc. It's not that hard to believe the m6 could beat an e55 top end.

Doubting, who's doubting? Are you really that defensive that when someone ask a legit question it''s "doubting"? Or could it just a question? I think you should re-read the previous post. Think what you want but the OP has not taken the questions above offensive or disrespectful.

Awesome video. I remember when CylinderHead and Sunny55 posted up their race. M5 vs Kleeman SL55. The M5 lost but not by much at all. I could definitely see how a stock M6 would pull an E55 from a roll. And of course, the torque monster is still king. Nice vids dudes.

But hey, maybe it's just a factory freak. It happens.

The M6 still lost the drag race against the slower modded 55. what it shows however is that rolling this M6 would likely beat even a stage 1 E55.
The R/T in the video (the drag race) was good for both cars with the 55 getting a very slight jump at the light. You can see the E55 increase the distance. 12.2 @ 121 vs 11.86 @120.
So what does this say?? If you race an M5 or M6 make cetain it is NOT FROM A ROLL especially from 55plus
The gearing in the stock 55 is all wrong for this type of race.
You see there is a good chance a STOCK 55 could beat any M6 in a 1/4 mile race, but the odds reverse rapidly once the BMW is above 70 mph.
Very cool video , and yeah that is one very fast M6

Hopefully tonight if the guy gets back to me we'll see what a modded M6 vs modded E55 does. We'll be doing runs from a dig to 130 and 60-150. I'll post videos depending if the guys is willing to take a passenger in his car to square things up. It will be fun regardless.
