As the thread title states, I was able to put my stock M6 up against an SL65 AMG and then an E55 AMG a couple weeks back in Mexico. Here is a little information on the cars:

M6: Stock - driver+passenger

SL 65: Aftermarket heat exchanger, Carlson ultralight 20's - driver+passenger

E55: Stock - driver

Also, as an FYI, this E55 is healthy - beat a stock E63 3 times in a row earlier in the day.

Damn Ms are super fast above 100, really own the top end. But that 65 is a monster for sure.

What kills? The SL65 handed out a whoppin' on 20"s lightweight or not 20"s kill power...

As for the E55? What speed did you guys run too? didn't look very high? Also not trying to be a BMW hater (I love M5/M6's & respect there top-end power) but you noted the E55 was racing E63 earlier & won, Forced Induction MB's are plagued w/heat soak very quickly when stock or w/near failing IC pumps...

Need more info to make that call though, thanks for posting/sharing

Nice videos! Hopefully this Friday we'll have a match up between a modded M6 and stock 55. I'll make sure and get some videos of these runs if it does happen.

Supossedly the 996TT I raced last week pulled this same modded M6 from 60-150 by 1.5 car lengths. It should be fun! Maybe we could convince him to take the camera man in his car .

Well I know that stock 55 is me and I will be there, you will be there, will the M6 be there? I'd love to finally see one show me that top end power. So glad I live 40 minutes away from Mexico!

im also curious on the sl, how much faster is an SL65 compared to an S65?

i did a few runs with one locally. we did roll ons from about 50mph up to 150mph (80kmh-240kmh). on the runs i pulled about 1 to 2 cars ahead of it and stayed ahead till we shut down. towards the end it seemed like he was starting catch up on me though so he probably would have passed me if we were able to keep going. (im not stock though)

I thought the E63 would edge out the E55 over 100 mph because of the 7 speed transmission.

The 7 speed 'box has got 2 overdrives.... not as close ratio as I would have expected or wanted. So the benefit is not as much as it would seem when compared to the old 5 speed.

Nice runs ... SL65 has got some punch and thats with 2120kg!!!

Pretty much as I expected on the runs ... as the E55 changed gear the M5 just jumped ahead... can't argue with better gearing. Need a lump more power to overcome that disadvantage....

Those extra gears were created in order to bring the highway fuel economy up somewhere near the equivalent of an E55 with a dormant blower, which they still don't do. The SMGIII on the other hand throws fuel economy completely out of the window in favor of maximum acceleration in every gear.

I was the E63 and I have an M6. The M is definitely faster on the highway, period. BTW, I beat the E55 once...his car is fast though.

Hey to the OP, I'm all for BMW's taking down Benz's.
However why title the thread "BMW M6 takes on SL65 AMG and E55 AMG -- VIDEOS??"
The M6 did a really good job keeping up with the SL65 and took on the E55!
Don't take my comment offensive, I'm just calling it as I see it.

I'm always up for some friendly runs. Let me know if you are out this way.

According to the owner of the SL, the wheels don't kill power because they are the same (or less) weight and the same rolling diameter.

The runs against the E63 were done hours earlier. I mentioned those runs to give perspective (that the E55 was running well). The E55 was not suffering from heat soak during this run. I would say the run against the E55 was 50-130+/-. This is a pure guess, I haven't tried to figure it out based on the elapsed time.

Actually, the E55 seems to pull the E63 up top.

No offense taken. To "take on" something doesn't mean to "beat" something it, in this case, means to "go up against." The SL is a fast car, no denying that. Twisties are a different story (I had to say it)

No, unfortunately not. The 335 is very well done though, you know this.

I ran from a fair dig multiple times with a slightly modded M6 and we were much closer than that. I'm stock
