E55 AMG Vs Bikes?

Just wondering, would an E55 take a 600cc bike easily? what 'cc' bike would be a very close comparison with an E55 ?

Thanks very much.

with a competent rider you'd get your **** handed to you from a 600 at any reasonable speed. if anyone chimes in saying how they spanked any bike 600 or above...they simply beat the rider and that's IT.

Any comparison to motorcycles is ridiculous. 600lbs with rider, anything over 80hp will beat us. apples and oranges. My easy modded Harley road king will beat my E55.

You want speed, get a bike...but learn to hang on. I once figured that coming off at 200 would be a road smear about a mile long.

Depends on what sort of 600cc bike it is. Anything supersport not a chance but there are some 600cc bikes we could do in a straight line or on some decent bends - eg a ZZR600, unless you were a gun rider.

I saw my friend's stage 1 E55 pull on a 600cc bike. According the the #'s, a 600cc bike should beat the modded E55. When I had headers, intake, and tune on my C6 Z06 which was making around 480rwhp or so, I was keeping even with a 600cc bike up to about 70 where I started to walk away from it.

It all comes down to the driver really. If your car is modded enough though, you may stand a chance on the highway.

I beat a Harley at the track, Mikey you where their too! I think it was just a Sportster. However thats not a 10,000rpm revving CBR600. I seen a GSXR750 blow it chain at 1/2 track and still ran a 12

yeah, i remember...but like you said, that was a whole different animal than the context of this thread (btw, most supersport 600's are revving up to 16k rpms now!!!!). the last bike i took to the track was my bone stock '99 r6 and without even trying to launch it (because of yamaha's having the reputation of weak clutches back then) i ran 11.2's at 129. if i really wanted to go for it i could have run 10's bone stock!!! this side of 140-150mph an e55 just won't touch a supersport 600 (with a good rider).

for the sake of bragging I ran a 9.6 on my Hayabusa a few years ago...but I had a few goodies on it, yoshi system, remapped, new cams etc

There are still only a few cars I know of that can take down bikes, the list is very short....Single Turbo Supras, Boosted Vettes, Boosted Ford GTs, Twin Turbo Gallardos, HPF Stage 2.5+ M3s, Modded 996/997 911s from Protomotive and Evolution Motorsports. Many of those cars are easily doing past 675rwhp to be in contention while some double that number cracking the 1,000rwhp barrier.

most 600's (sport bikes) can run sub 11's stock - that being said - everyone else is right - it's all about the rider. Especially with 600's, the rev's have to stay up (they have absolutely no power down below) and that can make launches tricky - having the revs below 10,000 at highway speeds and you're going to be at a distinct disadvantage while waiting for the bike to hit it's power band. Downshift too aggressively and the front end is coming up and most are not going to ride that out. Even bigger bikes now days depend a lot on the rider - On paper - it's not even close - alot of 1000cc bikes run 150 mph+ trap times but anyone who says that it doesn't take a particularly large set of brass ones and a lot of practice to get use to a bike wheelieing and lighting up the rear tire at the same time is full of sh&*. Not to mention the fact that with no heavily bolstered seats, seat belts, air bags, windshield etc - anything over 135 mph (especially in street clothes) takes on a whole meaning.

haters crazy
I guess I'll take the other side. From a high roll a well modded 55 can catch and pass a 600. Of course rider plays a huge role in the race. Past 120 the 600's dont have much left in em. I remember when a certain member claimed he could beat a gixxer 1000

Maybe when I get a friggin tune I will take the car out and videotape some bike runs. my friends race bikes all the time but they make much more power than I do.

Yamaha R6, 350lbs, 140hp. an E55 would have to have a stupid amount of power to compete with that.

I have a YFZ450 quad that weights 350lbs with about 50hp after mods and I think that thing is crazy fast.

Your car is making epic power, that's why. I never seen your rwhp numbers, did you ever dyno it?

as far as I know a R6 yami will do about 180mhp. However I dont know how long it takes to get up to that speed. 600cc bikes boot right along

nah...about 160+/-. 0-130 is comes quick...130-160 is where aerodynamics start to overcome the available power of a stock 600 and a car like a modded e55 can make up some ground and take over in a longer race.

I'll probably get flamed, but I've raced my friends 600 CBR and he smoked me from a roll. But, on the highway from 70mph up until 140mph, I pulled on him over and over. It boils down to aerodynamics - which bikes lack especially at high speeds.

But then again, he's a good rider, but I'm not sure how safe he was trying to be.

Hands down a bike will win almost every time- however it puts alot more dependency on a rider. I know my 07 R1 will smoke my E55 any day of the week. It's completely ridiculous. It's really the definition of stupid fast. It makes the E55 seem like a slug

I've got a stock CBR1100 and was on the highway running with a modded Vette. Not sure what we got up to, but it was likely around 150mph, starting from about 60mph. We both stomped on it and I was surprised I wasn't able to pull away from him. Only vehicle that I've seen keep up with me. He said he was modded, but don't know what.
At about 150mph, the bike still accelerates quickly, but certainly not as quick as it does below those numbers. Doesn't take very long to get to 190mph from rolling hwy speeds.

acb: Thanks for the vid!

Yes sorry i should've mentioned that's me on the ducati (in front of the camera bike). I'm also a huge MotoGP fan and it's where i spend most of my time on the internet... mbz's are great but you can't beat the feeling of a bike at the track! I've got enough money for a Kleemann supercharger but im tempted to buy a race bike

Now only if I could ride at my dream track..... Phillip Island

[edit: here's one of my favourite pics that day, I stuffed this guy on the inside of turn 14!]
